The Spoiler Policy as is seems entirely reasonable. That said, I really don't care that much about spoilers, and am perfectly happy reading books and watching films that I already know the basic plot of.
Yeah, me neither, but I understand why others feel strongly about going in 'fresh' and not knowing until it's revealed in context. Personally, I like absorbing material in multiple formats - like reading reviews of the movie, then the book of the movie, then watching the movie, then reading analysis of the movie, and finally finding alternate scripts of the movie that have been leaked. Obviously, that's only for movies that kick-ass and have deep, interesting stories. But, coming at the material in multiple ways allows me to process and integrate it much better. The whole "Darth Vader is Luke's Father" thing only works once.
