Re: HBO's A Game of Thrones
What I found shocking was that a NYT columnist, who presumably does not hold to stereotypes and gross generalizations, pretty much said that there are no women who would watch this tv series or read this series of books. Or any of a like-genre. Really? Plus, wow, can this guy write anything without dropping eighteen different series references? It was like he was trying to establish credibility by showing just how much television he has watched and on which he has an opinion.

With a name like Ginia Bellafante I'd guess the journalist is a woman.

This guy has his head so far up his own ass, he's a walking singularity. I hate shoe horned political messages, but I seriously doubt theres any THERE there. I mean this guy takes up column space to bitch about the weather in a Fantasy setting? really?

Re: HBO's A Game of Thrones
Score! I have a place to watch the show tonight. A friend of mine just got HBO today. We are getting together to play the excellent boardgame and have dinner before the episode starts.

I also like how the reviewer can't fathom how weird seasonal progression could possibly just be a plot device and looks for climate change undertones.

I just added HBO. For Uverse ( ) subscribers, you can get HBO and Skinimax free for 3 months.

I liked it. I must have missed the global warming bit.

Re: HBO's A Game of Thrones
They haven't mentioned the bizarre seasonal patterns yet. We heard "Winter is Coming" a number of times but have no context yet. Also, I think they did an amazing job with the casting. Every time I see a shot of Joffrey, I want to punch him in the face.

I've just been answering my wife's questions and warning her when the answers are spoilers. She might decide to read the books...
