I'd have done it anyway. Save me a pair?

No GM dice this year. Everyone got the green ones.
On another note, I have a brown GM dice from last year that I want to trade for a gray players dice. Any takers? Gotta catch 'em all ;)

*ahem*

Everyone but me, maybe!

Post Re: How important is GM prize support to you?
* 1) How important is GM Prize Support to you?

It's not. It only rates with me in that it rewards other attendees for running games. And I like games.

* 2) Would you care if a prize had been used?

Not personally, but... Unless it's something out of print is seems a bit... Jakey.

* 3) Does prize support have any impact on whether you run a game or not?

Not at all. FTC2 I did the comedy show and got a game for it (Zombies!!!)
FTC3 I did the comedy show and game show and ran my first con game. I took one prize (custom forum title) cause nobody was taking them and I really, really wanted one.
FTC4 I did the comedy show, the game show, and ran 3 games. I took 0 prizes, cause I didn't want to whittle down everyone else's chance at getting what they wanted, and cause I'm in a position now to get the games and such I want when I want them.

* 4) When should prize support be given out?

End of con. This can be part of a big community buidling thing if we choose to make it such... Recognize the people who brought us all the wonderful games of the con.

* 5) How should prize support be given out?

Lottery? Drunken brawl? I dunno. Lottery is fair.

* 6) Would changing it to attendance prizes be better? (from a selfish standpoint this is something that could be added to the advertisemens)

These should be different. It would still be a draw, and you should stipulate that the winner(s) must be present at the con at the time in which the prize is given out in order to receive the prize...

* 7) Any other thoughts or comments on the subject?

I don't know how the prize support works (i.e. if it's all purchased or partially donated, but...) Maybe GMs could receive a voucher for the vendor area instead of prize support? $5 or $10 for each game they run at the con? That would also stimulate sales for the vendors... Just a thought. Also, vendor gift certs would be a great door prize for random attendees, and one that could be advertised.

I have a few extra dice from last year. I would be willing to send you a couple silvers. PM me your address :)

1) I didn't know that there were going to be any prizes for running a game, but it was much appreciated.
2) Not really, but as pointed out above, it seems tacky if it's just a used version of a book that's still in print.
3) Nope.
4) At the end, or at the beginning.
6) I think attendance prizes would be nice for advertising, but having a "you guys helped the con go" prize is a nice kickback and it really makes me look forward to running a game even more than before.

I don't care about the prize support.

But the GM dice were really cool. I'd be fine if you dropped everything but kept the GM and player dice.

If all goes well it is all donated by gaming companies. The question about used prizes is because multiple people approached me at the con suggesting community donations to help fill out the prize support.

That acutally brings up another question. As we begin to get more and more digital prize support what is the best way to display them?

It's a nice benefit but it wouldn't change the number of games I run or whether or not I attended the con. It's sort of like getting a free toaster with a bank account - I was already gonna open the account, but I ain't gonna say no to a free toaster.

* 2) Would you care if a prize had been used?

Nope, as some of my favorite things are used (just kidding, honey!).

* 3) Does prize support have any impact on whether you run a game or not?

Nope, not at all. However, depending upon how the prizes were handed out it might affect when I ran a game.

The way you handled it this year was fine, but so was handing it out after every slot last year. On the whole I think the way it was handled this year was probably better.

No idea here, other than to say that this year worked pretty well in my opinion.

On one hand I kind of like the idea that I got something for running a game, it made me feel just a bit more valued. I also don't think that you really need any more incentives for most of us to attend.

Well, I do have one idea. Why not have six raffles (one for each slot) that contain 3-4 lots of prizes. If you run a game in that slot you get entered in the raffle. I suppose you could also sell off raffle tickets as well. Then pull names right after each slot. Sure you might not get something but the anticipation would be neat. It's how they handled things in the RPGA and I always enjoyed that part.

Oh, I want to add: if I can get a little help with the printing costs I'd be happy to do a few full sized poster maps for prize support next year.
