 Re: Malifaux
The FLGS in west Raleigh, NC has tournaments. Very popular here. http://www.gametheorystore.com

 Re: Malifaux
I realize it's been a while since anyone posted on this, but I wanted to throw my two cents in.
I've only played the game once (and totally creamed the three other guys I was playing against), but I really enjoyed it. I've only ever played Warhammer a handful of times, and Malifaux is much cheaper. Plus I like the way the models look a lot more. I've got three crews so far, Rasputina, Colette and Kairui (I think is how you spell them). Maybe as I get some painted I'll post pics.
My local gaming store was selling out right when it first came out, and I know they play during the miniatures night they host every week. But since I'm always working that night, I haven't managed to get out to it.

 Re: Malifaux
I wanted to play a wargame this november, so I bought into 40k. After a few months of struggling with a kind of crappy game (and high model count, which is what I THOUGHT I wanted), I decided to try Malifaux in addition to 40k. Holy shit, this game is good. I...can't see myself ever touching my Space Marines again.
I run Sonnia (for now). I also picked up a Lady J box, a Purifying Flame, and Nino Ortega (the players around here say Nino's pretty much an auto-include in any Guild list).
I've almost got my first crew all painted up. Besides the game being actually really well-designed, it's nice to be able to buy one model and have it significantly impact the game and bring something new to it. I started to hate having to buy 10 Space Marines just so I could field an extra unit.

I started to hate having to buy 10 Space Marines just so I could field an extra unit. I really like that the game is different each time you play too. I had a friend talk me into playing Warhammer Fantasy, and told me I should play the Vampire Counts. So not only did I have to buy a ton of models, I had to buy a ton of extra models that I may or may not use in any given game. I never felt like it was a strong army, despite what I had been told, and when the new rules came out, that pretty much killed any chance of me ever playing it again. Currently I'm just trying to finish putting together and painting the army so I can sell it off to someone else.

 Re: Malifaux
Who's been playing Malifaux lately? Anyone over on the Wyrd boards (I'm Hansel over there as well; same avatar). I had my first two games with Lady Justice last week, and won both of them. She's a lot less tricky to pick up than Sonnia (who I started with). I think I'm in love.

It seems that 40k is (finally) losing some steam here. People are picking up Warmachine/Hordes and Malifaux. Once I'm done working this ridiculous schedule I'll probably give Malifaux a shot.
