Re: Jagged Alliance-esque Modern Mercenary Game?
I want the game to be realistic. When I said "Jagged Alliance-esque", I meant more that the missions would be more on the order of dismantling corrupt dictatorships and drug cartels and such than, say, Shadowrun.
I don't want to play James Bond or Die Hard 4 or Hot Fuzz. I want to play Black Hawk Down.

I'll start promoting it seriously after FtC. I'd like to have four or five players at least.
What system are you guys voting for? I know WoD isn't too popular around here, but I've got the "Dogs of War" book for that, which has tons of military-grade weaponry and information about real-world militia groups and stuff.

Re: Jagged Alliance-esque Modern Mercenary Game?
That would be fine with me. I have the core rules and Dogs of War, too, though it has been ages since I read either one of those books. If you want to go much more simulationist, I also have all the resources that you could ever want to do this via GURPS, third edition. (Core books, high-tech, modern firepower, cops, SWAT, covert ops, special ops, etc.)

WoD is hardly rules light, but I know the system already. I'd be interested in learning GURPs, but I don't own any of the books (and no one around here sells them). Of the two, I'd prefer to run WoD.

Re: Jagged Alliance-esque Modern Mercenary Game?
WoD is probably better for PbP anyway, actually. While GURPS is a great system for simulation, it is also (because of that) crunchy in the extreme. That could definitely hamper the flow of a PbP with anything but the most experienced of GURPS players.

Re: Jagged Alliance-esque Modern Mercenary Game?
I have only been in one other PBP and it just withered on the vine so I'd like to take a shot at another one.
I have no clue about the setting or about playing a paramilitary character, save for what I've learned from Schwarzenegger films and Resident Evil games.
This may very well disqualify me, but I thought I'd at least express interest.

NB, we'd love to have you of course. I think you'll do fine.
