LOL I was thinking of that scene when I wrote that post.

 Re: Loosing Weight, Booter Style
Well, Here we go. This is Monday so I'm gonna go ahead and check in. I weighed myself this morning...
Current weight: 240.6 lbs
Short-term Goal: 232 lbs by 26 April 2010 weight to go: 8.6
Long-term Goal: 160 lbs Weight to go: 80.6 lbs
I think it would be cool if we added up the total weight lost by all of us doing this as we went along.
Edit: Taken some of Chris's advice and added a short-term goal.

 Re: Loosing Weight, Booter Style
I'd suggest since we all seem to have different goals, we should first post what we want our goal to be. That way, we can all see it, so that poster is then held accountable. Then each Monday we can post what is pertinent to that goal.
Want to do 20 pushups? Then state that goal
Want to drop 10 pounds? Then state that goal
Make sure to requote your goal each week.
I would also suggest that if your goal is to simply lose weight (not "loose" people!), then lay out short term goals.
Do you want to drop 50 pounds? Well, how about stating, "I want to drop 6 pounds in the month of April." Much more obtainable than a generic "50."
Keep your goals simple, small and obatainable (with hard work obviously). You'll find much more success this way - and stay motivated

 Re: Loosing Weight, Booter Style
Alright, I'm game. I'm 6' and 280 lbs, so I have a lot of room for growth (well, loss), though a significant amount of that is left over muscle gained from my old job a few years back that luckily never completely left.
Weight: 280 lbs Gut Circumference: 53"
Primary Goal: Lose 30 lbs by GenCon (mid August). (I really want to get to 200 lbs, but I have to start somewhere) That equates to 6 2/3 lbs a month.
Short-term Goal: Lose 7 lbs in April.
Secondary Goal: Be able to do 25 pushups by my birthday (mid June) (I just managed 9 pushups, not bad for being 280 lbs) That's roughly being able to do 2 extra pushups every week and a half.
Short-term Goal: Be able to do 2 more pushups every week.
Those should prove somewhat challenging goals for myself. They also slightly conflict (weight-loss vs muscle-gain), making this even more so challenging, but I feel that if I don't make myself goals like these, I won't push myself as much as I should.
Better yet, if I fail my short-term goals every so often, I could still accomplish my main goals. And if I blow all my short-term goals out of the water, I utterly demolish my main goals.

 Re: Loosing Weight, Booter Style
One thing sticks out to me from one physical trainer i worked with briefly..
Set realistic goals.
By this, she meant.. Dont be Vague. "I want to lose weight" Is an abstract goal. We may punish ourselves if we work out for a week or a month and see little to no change in weight. When we excercise, fat gets replaced by muscle.. and muscle weighs more than fat.
Instead, she encouraged me to set an ideal weight, yes.. But to also set a goal in inches. "I want to lose 10 inches off my waist" or "I want to lose three inches off my biceps"
This allows you satisfaction in the weight loss process even during times when you may seem to GAIN weight or during times when your weight seems like it doesnt change at all.
Pay attention to your overall, but pay attention to the fat. You think you look thinner but the scale says its all in your head? Good chance you really are losing. Keep a log of your inches. (Guys, no need to record the penis. No amount of working out is going to make it change its size)
Tomorrow, I have the day off from work. I am going to go find workout clothes I am comfortable with. I am going to buy a tape measure too. I am going to post my measurements and weight and goals.. and then, God grant me strength.. I am going to go tot he gym. Please oh please grant me strength.
