I don't have normally problem with the tangents but could you guys move the LARP discussion to a new thread in RPGs? That way we do not have to wade through all this conversation to find people for the round table.

Thanks guys!

I think I said all that I need too.

If you are going to discuss combat oriented LARPS, I would recommend finding someone specializing in that topic. Otherwise I would like the topic avoided, since they are more sport than roleplay.

If you need someone to discuss the intricacies of the combat larps, I throw my hat in.

Well I could throw my hat into the ring.

I am British ergo European, and a LRPer. I have been involved with LRP over here for 10 years or so. I spend most of my time dealing with the large fest LRPs which are pretty much exclusively fantasy, but I am also experienced with smaller LRPs both linear and salon. I have also occasionaly played MET although its not my favourite system.

I have a headset. I have skype. I speak English with no accent whatsoever although I am sure most americans would disagree. ;) And most of the time I am able to refrain from being a dick.

Hey, if you guys need an assist on the MET/WoD end of things I'll also be happy to help. Here's my info...

I joined the Camarilla in 1997 when I was living in Myrtle Beach, SC and helped to start up a local Sabbat Vampire LARP (a "troupe" game not part of the chronicle continuity) that we ran every couple of months for a few sessions before switching over to "sanctioned" games, which I played in and helped run (also making several trips to Charleston to play in their Vampire game as well). I was Chapter Coorinator, then Chapter Storyteller for a while, overseeing the three venues we had (Vampire, Werewolf and Changeling -- running the Changeling games directly and assisting in the running of the others). I became the US Assistant National Changeling ST in charge of Commoners for about a year starting in 2001, which is also the year I subsequently moved to Atlanta. I continued to play in Atlanta's Changeling LARP for a while in Atlanta until life caught up with me for a bit. I started LARPing again at the launch of the new World of Darkness, playing in Atlanta's Vampire Venue and again traveling frequently to a number of cities nearby to play in their local venues as well. After I moved to Charlotte in 2005 things were sporadic for a while until we got a new local Camarilla chapter started up (some time near the end of 2006 I think). We have two venues right now - Vampire and Mage. I've been playing Vampire regularly and played Mage for quite a while and also helped run it for a little bit.

At conventions I've played in a couple of non-Camarilla vampire LARPs, a Cthulhu LIVE LARP and a Deadlands LARP, all of which were "salon" style. I tried out a NERO mini-LARP at a convention as well and enjoyed the role-playing portion but wasn't nearly quick or agile enough for the hitting-people-with-foam part.

I also do have a functional version of Skype and would be using headphones along with the same mic I use to record "The Great Debate!"

And I am NOT a dick. :)

I was an active participant in a Vampire: The Masquerade LARP in my hometown through high school and a year or so after that. I'd be available on either a Wednesday or Thursday.

I'll put my resume up in the mix of things. I've been gaming for about 11 years and have been LARPing for about 10 of those years. I've been big in both d20 Modern/Ghostbusters/Cthulhu/werewolf/Mage/Vampire style larps as well as Boffer LARPS and have some roots in SCA.

I've been both player and Game Master/Organizer/Staff for many larps from both Public to private to Convention.

Oh by the by I am married, my wife games and larps as well as well as work for the local school district in our area using gaming a way to keep kids out of trouble. No I'm not a goody goody at all just seemed like the right thing to do.

I have about a headset somewhere and skype is always easy to me to get.

So yea let me know.

Jumping into the fire...

I'm a former LARPer(Vampire, Changeling, Werewolf, all both nWoD and oWoD), and active in the SCA. I'm also a furry... Heh. Which I suppose is probably just asking for it, but hey.

I'm not active on the forums, just because I'm /really/ busy, due to the joys of grad school, but I've gone back and at great personal expense of sanity listened to almost the complete archive of FtB over the past year and a half, and e-mailed Dan a couple of times.

So, I think I'd have some useful things to say.

My name is AJ

And I'm a Larper. (I feel like I'm in AA, no offense to anyone who's been there)

I got pulled in about 10 years ago, and I've no intention of leaving yet.
I've played in the current White Wolf larps, and the old.
I've played horror, sci-fi and fantasy.

I'm ttrpger from way back, but going through a dry spell in the lead to to my wedding.

I've helped run games, and tried to make my own.
I make props, both costume and weapons.

I was a charter member of NZLARPS our national Larp body, and have served several terms on the committee as a general member, and as the secretary. http://www.nzlarps.org/
My next larp will be in November, if I don't attend a monthly larp before hand.

I'm also the instructor of a re-enactment club using rebated steel weapons.
http://swordandshield.org.nz/

Right now I'm heading out to get a head set (I've been putting it of for months) since my current one is dead.

ps larpers suffer larp shame just like ttrpgers suffer gamer shame.

Hey, I'd love to join in on this roundtable on LARP. I've been a long time listener, unfortunatly I'm not active on your forum as I usually busy running LARPs.

I have a headset and Skype. I work evenings weekdays, but I have next week off so I'll be available all next week, and I'm available any Saturday you'd like.

I've been involved in a variety of LARPs over the past 10 years. I've played in action LARPs like Amtgard, and SCA like events. And I've run LARPs for White Wolf games and Call of Cthulhu. I have experience in running games for as little as 5 players all the way up to 50+ players. Including LARP and email play. I've run and played in the official Camarilla group acting as Chapter and Venue Storyteller, I've also received and Order of the Rose for my service to Amtgard. I know that may not mean anything to most. But I;m done waving my LARP wang about.

I live in Portland, OR, one of the capitals in the LARPing world. We have one of the oldest Camarilla chapters in the world. And have many of the original playtesters for the White Wolf LARP rules in the area.

I currently run a Werewolf, Vampire, and Mage game with several other storytellers hosting games of about 30 players. We even have a wiki you can check out at http://portlandrpg.wetpaint.com/. It's still being built.

I'd really like the chance to talk to your listeners about LARPing. I can discuss my experience in playing, and running LARPs, the logistics in hosting a LARP, and dealing with problems and drama that arise amongst so many players. I'll be watching this board, but also feel free to email me at cyotee@gmail.com.

So can we blame you guys for 'beast traits' and other such madness? :P
