Post New to "The Boot", old to gaming
Hey everyone! Long-time gamer, first time poster here. I am primarily a GM, although I'm currently playing in a Castles & Crusades PbP game. I've been playing RPG's since around 1980.

My first experience was Basic D&D, as a year-long project in my Gifted & Talented program. I was immediately hooked, and have been gaming ever since.

After Basic D&D, I started playing Advanced D&D and have played all of the versions up through 3.5. I ran a 4 year campaign with Dragonquest in high school, and also played some Star Frontiers and Boot Hill in high school as well. Ive played a few other games as well, such as Shadowrun, Gamma World, Rolemaster, and Vampire.

Most recently, my D&D fatigue led me to FUDGE, and more specifically, FATE. I liked the FUDGE-based game so much that I'm currently about 7 months into designing my own FUDGE-based Sword & Sorcery game, which I call "Blood, Sweat & Steel". It's pretty crunchy, compared to FATE, but nowhere near as complex as D&D 3.5. I'm trying to design a game that has good internal consistency, but the rules are still just guidelines, not restrictions to fun. I originally started my game as a FUDGE version of Mongoose's D20 Conan game. But I didn't want to just copy someone else, so I'm now building my own setting and flavor. It's still pretty "Conanesque" though, particularly the brutal non-linear wounding system.

I heard about this place from one of my players, and am hoping to meet even more lovers of this twisted little hobby! :D

Welcome! May you find a lot of interesting content in these forums - and I hope you're able to contribute as well. If you've been playing since the eighties ... then doesn't that put you in your thirties? If so, you're in good company with other folks of a similar generational bent. Enjoy!

Wow, flipped off on my first post! I think I'm going to like it here!

To Psalm: Being a Yank and all, I'm assuming "Sod off" is a way of saying something else without being censored?

To MrElzebub: No worries! Weirdos need love too! The anonymity of internet brings all kinds out of the woodwork. I have yet to lose any sleep or have a bad day as a result of something said by a complete stranger using a screen name on "teh internets". That would make ME the mentally unstable one.

Sorry for not replying but I forgot to check "notify of replies".

To runestar: Yep, I'm 39. It's weird for me to say that out loud because I don't really live like my 39 year old friends. I guess it's a bit of a refusal to grow up.

PS: And at the risk of insulting you runestar, in case that happens to be your pet in the picture; that is one of the strangest looking dogs I've ever seen. :D

Thanks again everyone for the mostly warm welcome....cough cough....yeah I'm looking at you Psalm! :naughty:
