A few bits of miscellaneous info in this regard (note: second hand information, I'm not a physician, but this is the info I've gotten from my father, who is) * Recent studies have shown that doing a shorter high intensity workout is better than a much longer lower intensity workout for eliminating fat. This has also been discovered anecdotally by a number of training centers which emphasize this methodology. Some get tremendous results because they push you to your absolute limits in those 90/120/however many minutes a week. May the mighty Chris strike me down (verbally) if I've said anything incorrectly. Yes yes and yes to the above. This is the interval training I spoke of in the episodes. And like I'm going to refute your physician father? HA! If anything, I'd be asking him to recommend clients to me...

 Re: Loosing Weight, Booter Style
Ok, SO I weigh 210.
The eventual goal is to get healthy really. When I lack all muscle whatsoever, that's at about 155 or so (I'm really short)
Short term goal?
My short term goal is just to change my habits by the end of April. (AKA eat less doughnuts and more celery and be exercising regularly)
The last time I lost it I did it the unhealthy-heartbreak way, so I'm hesitant to set any goals since I'm not really sure what healthy ones are.

Eight pushups today. I don't expect this rate of progress to continue, but it's heartening.

 Re: Loosing Weight, Booter Style
I said Id do it yesterday, but I couldnt get to the store till today.
So.. weigh in at 270 much as it pains me to say it.
Short term goal for the month of April: Lose 10 lbs. go to the gym minimum once a week
Long term goal: Get back down to a respectable 180. I used to think that was fat.. Man I would kill to be that "fat" again.
I forgot to buy a tape measure for inches.. But I hope to lose at least an inch all over by the end of the month.. I dont know if thats realistic or not..

 Re: Loosing Weight, Booter Style
@ Stacey In general weight loss = calorie intake < calorie output.
What that looks like is different for everyone. Some people can just avoid foods with high calorie counts and low nutritional value (junk food) and lose weight. Others, like me, need to be much more conscious of what they eat.
I don't have a problem with avoiding stuff i know is bad for me. I Just eat too much. Even of the good stuff. I use an online calorie counting tool to help me know when i have eaten enough. It also estimates the calories i burn throughout the day and allows me to add calories i burned from extra activities like going to the gym.
In general, I try to consume 500-1000 calories less than i use in a day. This gives me a calorie deficit of 3500-7000 calories for the week, which translates to about 1-2lbs of fat lost in a week.
Counting calories has worked for me, but it can be a bit of a pain.

heh, I was referring to the typo. He has loose in the title, not lose.

This is so inspiring and awesome that everyone is going to try and get healthier and support eachother. I think this is a great idea!

Current weight: 222 lbs. Eventual goal: 195 lbs. Short-term goal: lose 5 pounds by the end of April.
Weight is really slightly less important to me than fat-to-everything-else ratio. If i was 220 pounds of solid muscle, I wouldn't mind and neither would my wife, but I'm not in a place where I can really do a bodybuilding type of exercise routine at present, so weight loss it is! While I applaud you for that goal, because it is indeed attainable, why do you say you can't bodybuild? What's preventing you? Space and funds, and, to a lesser extent, time. I have a set of free weights, but my wife and I are crammed into our apartment like sardines at the moment. Her crafting business has overrun a lot of the available space where I used to be able to set the weight bench up and personal finances are such that a gym membership isn't viable. That's okay, though. The weather's getting nice and the town I live in is decent enough to walk/jog around. I can just do cardio. My job also gives me some limited strength-type exercise.
