 Loosing Weight, Booter Style
Hey booters,
So now that my wife is finally done being pregnant (for a while) it's time for me to take off this sympathy weight and all of its friends. I'm the heaviest I've ever been, which is not too bad at just over 200 lbs, but I'd like to turn everything back around (I am god-awfully-ridiculously short, so I don't wear it well)
Anywho, I'm going to start on Monday, and I wondered if any of you wanted to loose weight with me, all support group style.
Maybe we could make it interesting? Gamble on percentage lost?
Anything will help. I suck at self motivation and I want to be healthy for my kids.

 Re: Loosing Weight, Booter Style
Have you got a game plan?
I made a serious concious effort to change my eating style recently, thinking I was having blood pressure problems.. Not wanting to die I refused to eat bad things and ate good things...
Come to find out I had a nerve problem. Blood pressures great. And Im finding with that motivation gone, its hard to continue with that eating style. I welcome any source of inspiration and encouragement. I still need a local gym partner though to get me to actually.. you know.. GO..
Baby steps, I guess. Changing the diet is a start.

@Maniah Gameplan for loosing it or all the forumness?
For loosing it I'm mainly going to cut out my insatiable mountain dew habit, drink more water, and start running.
As far as the forum thing goes, I figured we could weigh ourselves once a week and post it, post encouragements to one another, and maybe do something goal oriented.

That's a cool idea. I don't so much need to lose weight as gain back what muscle and stamina I've lost. I need to start running again. I'll post how long I've been able to run straight. But the losing also. Where I live it can get fairly humid (Arkansas) with the summer creeping up. I suck at motivating myself. I have a gym membership that I dont use because I dont know anyone to go with. How lame is that? I used it a bit, but then stopped when I got really sick one time.. Just never started back up.. I would suggest some sort of prize, but its sorta hard to do that with everyone being so far apart I guess my next step would be getting some clothes I felt comfortable wearing to the gym.. I guess I just keep putting that off and justify it to myself as "Well, I cant afford that right now.." Bah. I hate this feeling of I dont want to but I want to..

 Re: Loosing Weight, Booter Style
I'm game. I've lost about 25 lbs but i've kinda tabled off. I'm looking to lose another 80.
So when do we start with the check in?

 Re: Loosing Weight, Booter Style
I should lose some weight, but its going to have to wait for me to return to days of find a chick. I never lose weight when I'm single on afternoons due to my insatiable drive to meet chicks at the bar. If things go weel this weekend, I may have corrected the issue and would be down to de-fatify myself.

 Re: Loosing Weight, Booter Style
Having recently gone through weight loss, and diabetes, I found what works is the opposite of the advice given out there.
Stay away from refined grains, and try to eat as close to natural as you can get.
What I did was made my plate out like so: 1/2 vegetables 1/4 meat or alternatives 1/8 fruit 1/8 sauce or fat
The sauce and fat are extremely important, as they satiate you. Have you ever noticed that you can eat a whole bag of chips and not blink? Try that with a bowl of eggs. You would be sorry.
We have been counciled to avoid fat as if it will give you the black plague. A small amount of healthy fat (read:natural) goes a long way to helping you eat less calories.
It is important to remember that it is sugars and carbohydrates that make you gain weight. These are starting to be linked to cholesterol, so please do be careful with the carb intakes.
Of there is anyone out there with any questions or comments on this, please PM me, and I will be more than happy to tell you what I did to change.

 Re: Loosing Weight, Booter Style
How about people do it for a charity? A dollar a pound, or whatnot. If you make it bigger than yourself it may help motivate. I can't really participate, but I can try and do the opposite and put on muscle; a dollar for each pound of muscle gained.
