It's not exactly like that. If you start watching a show, DVRed or whatever, you get points for the length of the time of the show. If you watch an hour long show, you start it at the beginning and you can do whatever. You just happen to get the points after an hour is up, not 45 minutes or something like that.
On my way into work today, my three year old son was watching Caillou, so I checked into it before leaving. By the time I got to work, I had the points.

Are they good shows? I used to do a lot of focus group stuff like watching TV pilots, trying new soap or shampoo, and my favorite... Sitting down on prototype truck seats so a pressure sensor could determine how much ass pressure was exerted and where. Back when I had more time than money it worked out pretty good.

So, I know that no one cares, but after doing this a week I now have enough points for a $10 gift card.

Well, it isn't really work, is it? Back in the sixties when I was a kid there was this thing the candy companies could still get away with doing. They'd send us, all the kids in our school from what I can remember, each a chocolate bar and a dime and we ate the chocolate bar and filled out a form telling what we thought about it. They were paying kids to eat candy. This Viggle thing is just another reward-for-input thing. Better that the companies just guessing what catches people's interest. And if we can encourage them not to show us dreck, we're all ahead. And a scone and a cup of coffee is a scone and a cup of coffee.

Turning on my iPhone and tapping a button that listens to my TV for 15 seconds isn't work. You don't even have to watch the show if you don't want to; you just basically need to watch it for 15 seconds. Also, the other day, it introduced us to the show Longmire, which we ended up liking quite a bit.

If Netflix and Hulu counted, I could get onboard.
I have no TV other than that, though, so it's not really useful.
