Last night at a midnight showing of The Dark Knight Rises, a guy in full tactical body armor and carrying a shotgun, an assault rifle, and a .40 Glock pistol shot up the audience.

The current casualty count is 12 dead, 71 wounded. The police caught the suspect, they believe he acted alone, and when they went to investigate his apartment, they found it's rigged with a bunch of firebomb traps.

Crazy people do crazy things. No amount of legislation, security or preparedness is ever going to prevent that.

In a way... he is a nut job. Just like Hasan or Muhammad.

No one I know directly was there, but is is hitting the community really hard---and the geek community is struggling with it a bit.

It's a sad day.

None of my friends or family were involved, thankfully. But yes, it's hitting all of the communities in Colorado really hard right now. We've had too much tragedy so far this year.
