Yep. Rings should be here early next week, according to the UPS gods.

Moving into the second half-hour of tech support chat with a student, and he has finally found the shift key on his keyboard. Alas, he has yet to discover any punctuation other than the comma. EDIT: Oh, no. He must have lost the shift again.

Just got mugged at gunpoint. I'm fine, but more than a bit rattled. They got away with my wallet (bank already notified and cards on hold), my iPod, and about $30 in cash. Not much really was taken, but it's gonna be a bit of a pain to recover all the cards and IDs and such. Wtf?! Sorry you experienced that and very thankful you're ok.

 Re: Grumbly Things Go Here
So mindy got in with her dr to get her bi-polar meds refilled... on the 4th. Which is better than after the wedding, but its still another week of a bi-polar bride to be off her meds Also, this weekend is the ren fair, so four hours in a car and walking around a hot crowded park filled with real swords while off her bi-polar meds... I'm buying some chainmail.
And she said she's almost out of depression meds too, and she might not be able to refill them before our honeymoon.

 Re: Grumbly Things Go Here
Hurricane Isaac was pretty mild where I live. The rain mostly broke up before it got to my town and the wind wasn't too bad either, so we never even lost power. It seemed to crawl northward, so the areas it did hit have gotten 20 inches of rain or more. About half of Louisiana and Mississippi are dealing with high water, most of which is low land or river valley which means that a lot of the rain water will be draining that way. Please remember those who have been displaced by flooding, because it may be some time before they can get back to their homes and livelihoods.

 Re: Grumbly Things Go Here
So Rachel has actually lost weight since she was born 18 days ago.
That could mean one of two things. First, it could mean she's just not getting enough calories. So they're going to keep us through the weekend and up her caloric intake by fortifying Kali's milk with a higher-calorie formula. If she improves, then great -- that's all it was. And we could theoretically go home Monday.
If she doesn't gain weight over the weekend, it's a sign her heart still isn't doing everything it should be doing. And that could mean another heart surgery, this one an open-heart procedure to repair valves.

I don't know if this applies, since your daughter is a surgery patient, but babies do lose a little weight after they are born. The same thing happened to our daughter.

The same thing happened to our daughter. And mine. Yeah, that's normal weight loss. Newborns lose about 10% of their body weight in the first day or so and quickly make it back. Two-and-a-half weeks later, however, is not normal.
