It really sucks. First babies are much, much harder deliveries than future kids (for a vast majority of women), which doesn't help the current situation at all.

Have real contractions kicked in at all? Or just those annoying non-productive contractions that hurt but don't seem to be doing anything?

Only the latter. I'm finally starting to get a little demoralized, honestly.

My wife wanted me to share with you (or rather with Kali) that with both kids sitting up and even standing actually helped her get through contractions. The nurses tend to not like it because it makes the monitors move around, but it helped her to the point that she didn't even feel some of them. We'll continue praying for you guys.

I appreciate it, certainly! She's been doing that, and Kali says it's helping a bit, but not enough on its own. She'll be back on the pitocin tonight; perhaps that will get things going.

Well, crap. I can't take formal logic because they won't let you do so without taking TWO 90-level math courses. I can probably place out of them or get an adviser to give me a waiver, but I've got no time. Looks like I'm taking ethical hacking this semester after all.

An update: that turns out to be a more efficient way towards a tech-related AAS anyway. I'm 10 classes away from an AAS in Network Security based on my previous studies. This isn't such a grumbly after all, apparently.

What's a 90-level course? Like high school?

Basically. I think the real answer is: "a way for the college to drag 4-6 credit hours' worth of tuition out of non-traditional/returning students." I proficiencied out of those classes at the same community college back in my high school days, but the scores expire after a while, so I'd either have to (pay and) re-test (which would probably mean some cramming because the last time I took an algebra class was the late 90s) or take the 90-level classes as pre-reqs.

I think I'll take option 3 and go for the Network Security thing instead. It's all hardware and security classes, and those are my two primary areas of interest/expertise. I've got my whole life to learn coding, but if I'm only 10 classes away from paper that will help wedge my foot into the door down one path and more like 20 down another, my choice looks pretty clear.

Pretty much. I believe Pre-Cal/Trig is the typical 90 level math course, though I can't really verify that (at my college, math course is determined by ACT score, and 28+ gets you into Calc. That puts 90 level at something like 21, and on account of having at least two functioning brain cells I got over a 21 on the ACT. Also well over a 28, but that took a few more functioning brain cells).

Some people need it. I knew a few people in Senior Geometry in highschool, and I've met people in college who would be downright envious of their mathematical capability, who tested into 30 level courses. I once helped someone add fractions when I had time between classes and was finished with all my homework.

Do you have an advisor willing to work with you? I never tested out of any math or computer classes but because I did well enough in my programming, electronic, and physics classes, that my advisor just "waived" the requirement. Not sure if that meant putting that I tested out or what but it got me the degree without the added hassle.

As I've stated before, I could go that way, but I don't really think I need to. The college apparently added an AAS in Network Security program that didn't used to be there while I wasn't looking, and I've already got all the general requirements and about half of the program requirements met. The general Comp Sci program (the one that requires programming classes) also requires an internship for two credit hours (which would be a real bear to fit in around being the household's primary source of income) as part of the program. I was originally thinking I'd need to just try and grab useful skills because paper was out of reach for the reasonable future, but some extra research has indicated that the game changed while I had my head down and I'm now further up the field than I thought. It's a little bit different field than the one I thought I was playing on, but it's still basically the same game. I can learn coding and so forth on my own time. It's silly for me to just pick at interesting classes when I'm this close to actual credentials.

Finishing up a long series is kind of depressing.

A no credit class that teaches what the student should have learned in high school.

At some colleges, they design the classes to not allow you to fail as well, but that doesn't mean you pass, either.

The Werefrog taught such classes at a local community college. The Werefrog was told the grades to give were pass, fail, incomplete, and retake.

The Werefrog told the students there would be no incompletes because that creates more work for The Werefrog. Thus, their options are pass, fail, and retake. Pass means you pass the class and learned the stuff, retake means you didn't.

Fail means you done f***ed up in some manner, not through inability, but through excessive absenses or disrespect.
