Can you get ibooks on your ipad without using itunes or the cloud? I'm not trying to be a dick. I honestly don't know.

You can sync them over iTunes (via a cable or over the air), or you can email them to yourself, or you can download them from Safari. And, here's a question for you, and I'm not trying to be a dick either. What other methods would you foresee using?

So the answer to my question is "no"? mindtakerr wrote: And, here's a question for you, and I'm not trying to be a dick either. What other methods would you foresee using? For a PDF? Attach my kindle to my laptop with a USB cable, open it up in explorer, drag and drop. That's how I put things on my android phone as well. In fact, that is how I have put things on and off every usb capable device I have ever owned - phones, mp3 players, cameras... That is how I put episodes of the podcast on my phone - which is where I generally listen to them.

I think there is an app called Air Share or something that lets you drag and drop files over Wifi to your iPad/iPhone. If you're not on a Wifi you can always make a Wifi Ad Hoc with your Laptop.
I do agree that Apple not letting you drag and drop files is crazy.

Oh, I absolutely understand why they do it. Computer savvy people are not their target market. They are trying to reach the much larger market of people who are not tech-savvy. And trust me, you really don't want people that are not tech savvy mucking around with files on a computer. The tech savvy crowd messes up enough stuff by themselves. They are trying to turn a computer-like device into a true appliance.

 Re: Grumbly Things Go Here
How? By using iTunes? iTunes is one of the most confusing pieces of software ever written. I hate it.

I see a computer, a USB cable, and an iPad and think"I should be able to plug that into that and move stuff." Apple people see those things and go "I should sign up for a third party service that requires an active internet connection for both devices to move things wirelessly, or install another program that needs to be downloaded to move things vis USB."
