Yeah, SpyBot S&D is excellent. I've used it for years. It found little problems that Symantec didn't.

I use a different Spyware software, which I believe you also use now. It's called Dirty Hippy.

If you think that's all the protection you need you deserve what you get.

I run a mac as well but still have anti virus on it. Just because virus writers prefer the larger crowd of PCs doesn't mean someone hasn't decided to go after your mac as well.

What anti-virus software are you running?

Several of you sent in PM's reporting malware being detected on the forums. Just to clarify there was no malware being hosted on the forums but one of our users was hotlinking a picture from a site that is a known malware hoster. The forum staff have removed these links.

That site was tuckborough dot com.

We have no reason to believe that anyone's computer was compromised but it wouldn't hurt to update and your virus and malware scanners. If you don't have any scanners I suggest the following free programs though there are a number of very goods ones out there:

Ha!......the old "click this anti-virus software link" trick.

Nice try, Moriarty.

We run anti virus for the macs at work. I can't remember what it's called off the top of my head, but if anyone's interested, I could find out.

iAntiVirus. It's free and very basic but better than nothing. There's some better programs you can grab if you want

By the way, I hope no one actually believed that I think owning a Mac makes me impervious to threats.

I guess only TimeSpike and probably Bai would know that I'm just being stupid.

It doesn't make you impervious, but the threat from viruses, worms and trojans is very, very small, regardless of whatever reason. Phishing, ID theft and doing plain stupid things? You're in as much danger as anyone else.
