Post Would you like a shirt?
After talking to Dan and Remainaery, I am going to be talking to a local Tshirt maker today about getting Boots the Pegasus shirts made. The drawing is by Remainaery of a custom pony that I had made for Dan a couple years back.

UPDATE: Here is a preview of the image that will be used for the shirts. The only changes that remain at this point is that the lettering on the bag will be changed from FTP to FTB. No File Transfer Protocols needed here! After that, the colors will be separated out and I will pay for the file and take it down to the printer for a final quote :)

I will take preorders for them and collect money in advance, then I will bring the shirts to FTC6. You can always pay extra to have them shipped to you if you won't be there. Or, if you want the shirts early so you can wear them during tourism things, you may want them mailed as I won't be arriving more than a day early.

There is no intention for any profit to be made off of these shirts. I just want to make that clear. I just think it sucks that Cafe Press won't print them and I know that people liked the image. I think that any profits made off of these shirts will be reinvested into the con.

If I am financially able to do so at the time, I will try and order a few extras to have on hand for people to buy on a whim, but I wouldn't count on it. Your best best is to preorder.

Prices?

Talked to the shop and the shirt price range looks to be in the $10 - $20 range. It's hard to say for sure. With the image I currently have, it can only be done as a digital print, which can only go on a white shirt. The white shirt is the easiest option and the cheapest at $9.26 + Tax

These prices have been updated as of 1/11/13
There is a setup fee of $120 for simply creating the screens for the shirt. That could be higher depending on how many colors it uses, but Im not sure. There is also a fee of $70 just about, for having the image redone as simplified vector art by an artist I have hired. A shirt's base price is $20.85. Looking at this math alone:

10 shirts sold = $39.82 per shirt
15 shirts sold = $33.52 per shirt
20 shirts sold = $30.35 per shirt
25 shirts sold = $28.54 per shirt

So you see, it is hard for me to set a price before knowing how many people will buy.

Of course, none of this math takes into account taxes. And as I said previously, the screen setup fee could be higher if the image winds up using more than 5 colors.

Well, the image wound up being six colors, and that upped the price for the setup fee by $20. It was originally $100. And the shirt price went up also. Our order is small, and the image is pretty intricate and labor intensive for such a small order, which makes the cost higher. Unfortunately, I don't see any way to get the colors down to 5. Every color is important in Boots' theme.

Edit#2: There will be no text on the shirts relating to FTC. When Dan listed these in Cafepress, it was image only, no text, unless I am mistaken. I am only trying to provide that same shirt offer.

Edit#3: Profits from these shirts will be reinvested in the con. I'm not out to turn a profit but the more shirts sold, the harder that is to avoid. So any profits will go back into the con in some way shape or form.

So.. Feedback?

The Werefrog want it, need it. The Werefrog really like her mane.

However, The Werefrog will not be at the con, so it must be mailed to the pad, or in some other way delivered.

Not sure what you can get them down too. I sold a political shirt a good 10 years ago at $10 a pop and made back the money spent on them. Sold something like 15-20 of them.

Since I'm not a big fan of the show, I would probably only get one as it's part of the show. If it gets cheap enough, I have gamer friends who don't listen but who would probably love the shirt, so I would get it as a gift. Would need at least XXL though. Possibly 2 more XX's
A list of the prices and how they effect my buying decisions.
At 25+ not worth it
At 20, I'll buy 1
At 15, I'll buy1, possibly 2
At 10, I'll buy at least 2.

When I got the shirts for Azhrei and John, they were $14 each and that was only two shirts. I think the shirt material was not uber good, but it was worth what I paid.

I would push for the shirt quality to be a little better, but if I place a bulk order, Im hoping to get them cheap anyway. I feel safe in guessing that they could be under $25 easily.

For a decent quality shirt, I would still likely not buy it (as I almost never wear T-Shirts), but I would add it to my Christmas list and let my kids buy it for me, because they would find it awesome.

However, I believe T-Shirts should double as tents or pavilions, so the more X's in the size the better. I wouldn't even consider it with less than 2X.

Sizes will have as many or as few X's in them as you would like :) Once more details are known and I get to the point where I can actually set a price and take money for preorders, then I will collect shirt sizes.

I don't particularly want one for me, but I would love to get one for my son. He loves MLP:FiM.

WANT!!!

I'd be okay with picking it up at the con, but I'd rather have it mailed to me.

And I would prefer a black shirt, just because I don't wear white (black bras do not work well with white t-shirts). Of course, I realize this would be more costly and can understand if my desire for not white doesn't win out. That won't stop me from buying a shirt by any means.

Maybe we could add some text too? "Fear the Con 6: Gaming is Magic"
