Re: Fear the Boot Writer's Guild
I would enjoy being a part of this. I'm always writing something, but I'm distractable and don't know enough about the industry. Also I am an e-moron. But I am learning.

Re: Fear the Boot Writer's Guild
Okay all, if for any reason you think I don't have your contact information, let me know. I need Skype names and I would like gmail addresses if you have them for the calender.
For the first night, I actually have no clue how long this thing will run. Things I want to cover:
1. What do you want out of this group? 2. How often do you want to meet? 3. When works best? 4. I've contemplated giving out a writing prompt every month (you have a full month, then, to write a short story). Is that something you'd be interested in? 5. Any other suggestions or ideas for this?
#1 is the most important. Getting a purpose for this group as a whole will change what we discuss every month.
Let me know if you have anything else you'd like to talk about on Saturday!
And a quick reminder:
8 easter, 7 central, 6 mountain, 5 pacific.

Twice a month if the meetings are relatively short (under two hours?) 3. Week nights, after 6 EST (excluding Weds.) 4. I kinda need to work on my own stuff. I'd be happy to throw together a few pages of outline, though, if everyone is keen on this idea. 5. I'd like it if there were some kind of peer pressure to make sure we all produced a certain amount of material before each meeting - help keep us all on track for our writing goals.

Re: Fear the Boot Writer's Guild
Also - I'd like the meeting to be a tough but fair criticism zone. I expect people to tell me if my work isn't very good, and I intend to extend that courtesy. And I do mean courtesy - blindly telling folks their stuff is great is just as damaging as telling them it's shit, just in the other direction.

Re: Fear the Boot Writer's Guild
I'm highly interested. I joined the group over at the Pathfinder Chronicler--here's one of mine A Quiet Retirement. I've gained a lot from that group of writers/editors, but I'd like to branch out to other genres. I will not be able to make the call, and not sure when I would be able to at all as my family/household set up does not allow for access for such an event--right now. But maybe in the future. Nonetheless, I think these groups work best for accountability but also for constructive criticism. That is: "Here is my latest work. Can someone look at it?" "I'll take a look." -- "Here's what I think and how it might be improved." "Thanks." I also like the idea of prompts. Anyway, count me in if you'll have me.

I should add that even without the calls, much can still be accomplished via email and even message boards.

Re: Fear the Boot Writer's Guild
I love attempting to write!
...I'm never motivated enough to actually try though.
If I work up the ambition to start writing one of the stories I've been kicking around in the back of my head forever though I'll totally be in on this.

Re: Fear the Boot Writer's Guild
I am just learning to check my email (still have to have |Gamma-Ray supervising), and don't check it often, but then try to respond right away. My productivity is irregular; sometimes I'll spend hours on a sentence and then discard it as not relevant to the plot. So having something to look at each time could get tedious for anyone who's seen it several times before! I'm faster at editing and checking grammar, punctuation and spelling, and enjoy working on sentence structure with others.

8 easten, 7 central, 6 mountain, 5 pacific. I know you don't have my info, so I'll send you a PM. 1. People to bounce ideas off of, get inspiration from, share techniques & ideas, stuff like that. 2. Once a month is good to start. 3. Friday or Saturday evenings is my best time, but as long as it doesn't go past 10pm EST, even weeknights work. 4. Nah, I have enough writing of my own to do, so I wouldn't be likely to participate in this. I already have one series of novels in the works, and will be starting on a second one within the 1st Qtr of 2012, plus I have two 1st drafts in need of editing, revisions, & proofing prior to publication 5. No suggestions at this time.
