 Red Knave's Fortune Development Thread
Red Knave's FortuneThe suggestion thread for RKF is in the Roleplaying thread, found here. In an upcoming episode of Player's Edition, Noble Bear and I get into a heavy discussion about the development of the above game. If you are as yet unaware, I am developing my own, simple, dice-less storytelling RPG engine to drive my game at Fear the Con 5. What is above is a second draft of the original rules. The reason why this is relevant is that Keith, Chad, and Noble Bear have all agreed to help me playtest these rules over Skype, so instead of a normal episode, we will drop the actual play of the one-shot alpha test. In this thread, we will go through character creation and development, discuss what worked and what didn't, and hopefully get feedback based on what you guys heard, from you. Be gentle: This is my first time!

Re: Red Knave's Fortune Development Thread
That's kind of up to you guys.
I know we jokingly discussed that you would play a travelling player, Chad would play a gunslinger, and Noble Bear would play a wandering card shark, but that makes it somewhat difficult to travel together.
So if you guys want to stick to that, that's cool, but since you all three have inclination to wander, perhaps you were all in the same unit during the Civil War (north or south, makes no difference to me) and after the war ended you three decided to stick together and make your way in a world without war when all you have known is war for 4 years.
Now it's 2 years after wars end and you're still trying to find your way...
What do you think?

Re: Red Knave's Fortune Development Thread
I'd prefer to split the difference:
We all fought together in the war between the states, but before and after that, we each had our own individual life experiences and vocations.
So we would still be a gunslinger, a bard and a card shark, but toward the end of the war we agreed that if we weren't dead, to all convene at a particular tavern, knock back a few and swap old war stories.

Re: Red Knave's Fortune Development Thread
Oh and I personally don't sweat group templates.
Yeah, it's best to have a reason all the members are together but beyond that, I find that when you sit down with other roleplayer or just fellow creatives, the character and story ideas are more than sufficiently different to create variety; which is all I care about.
I don't go for situation where the group hits a snag because SOMEBODY has to be the CLERIC, or other similar noise.

Re: Red Knave's Fortune Development Thread
I was thinking about this today. I'm going to play the Southern gentlemen who witnessed Sherman burning Atlanta. He knew at that point the South could no longer win. Being a high ranking officer in the Georgian military and from Savannah he crossed over to Sherman's army and gave them as much intelligence as he could even leading Northern forces against the South until the end of the war.
After the war he could not return to his home for fear of reprisals and had no interest in going North. He headed West to find his fortunes as well as lose himself from the horrors of war and being a traitor.
His given reason for betraying the South was to bring the war to it's inevitable and speedy end. The real reason is that he wanted revenge on the South for not winning.
That's my elevator pitch for my gun slinger. I'll fill out the questions at a later time, likely Monday.
