Post EPYC! III Sign-Up
And so, once more into the breach of madness! For those who've missed the previous two iterations of the game, I'm reposting the rules in full; those of you who know what's up can just skip down to the part where you volunteer:

Once I have a full roster of volunteers, I will send (via Forum PM) the first Artist a sentence drawn from one of a number of works I use for this purpose.

The Artist will then take a period of time (never more than a week, and hopefully quicker) to sketch a quick piece portraying or inspired by the sentence. They will send this back to me via Forum PM. I will then forward it to the first Writer, who will, without knowing what the original sentence was, be required to compose a single sentence relating to the picture drawn. This will be sent back to me, and the game will proceed accordingly.

Once all the participants have been gone through, I will post the full exchange, with attribution at each step, for the entertainment and edification of the folks here to see and marvel at. The end result is usually the idiot bastard child of Pictionary and Telephone.

The rules are slightly different for Artists and Writers.

Artists: No, you don't need to be da Vinci--or even Noble Bear (though I'm dearly hoping he opts to honor the game with his participation). Any style, down to MSPaint Pictionary-style art, heavily photoshopped images, or all the way up to Mad Skillz on Display (Lookin' At You, NB) are acceptable. About the only thing to avoid is a pre-existing image. Three images photoshopped together, good; just sending me a copy of the Mona Lisa, bad.

As I said, the big thing is to get the reply to me in a week or less, if at all possible. Basically, the biggest rule is, "Don't volunteer if you think you're likely to flake off when your turn comes up." If something DOES come up, and you won't be able to fulfill your commitment the Men in Black will come for you in the night please be kind enough to let me know, so I can bump the next Artist up the line, and then seek a new volunteer.

Writers: You may have noticed you get it easy--all you have to do is crank out a sentence in reasonably comprehensible English. To balance that, we'll be expecting a wee bit more out of you.

Sentences can take one of two forms--a caption describing what you're seeing, or a spoken quote or thought from one of those present in the picture. If the latter, you should place it in quote marks, so it'll be clear to the next person down the line what they're working with. So:

A: Jonathon watched the monkey on the unicycle, marveling at how adroitly it played the harp.

OR

B: "Whoa--not every day you see a harp-playing monkey on a unicycle," thought Jonathon.

By all means, feel free to highlight some small portion of the image and make that the centerpiece of your caption.

Things to avoid: Deliberate non-sequitors (believe me, they'll happen without you needing to assist the process along) and famous quotes (that'll skew the artist's interpretative freedom).

Since your job is easier, you're also expected to respond more quickly--preferably a day or two at most, though I'll allow more leniancy if you let me know ahead of time that you only check the forum every three days, or somesuch.

Okay, so--we've got ten or twelve spots to fill (it should be an even number of players and long enough to build up a good bit of humorous distinction):

ARTIST: McNutcase
WRITER: Mindtakerr
ARTIST: Noble Bear
WRITER: Ratatosk
ARTIST: Aaron Stack
WRITER: Zanian0
ARTIST: DistinctlyBenign
WRITER: Lord Foul
ARTIST: CitizenParagon
WRITER: Burning
ARTIST: DocTWisted
WRITER: Lime-Wielding Ninja
ARTIST: Save-vs-DM
WRITER: Diogenes

Volunteers! Embrace your destiny! (I will update the roster as I get responses. You should say, "I will be a Writer", "I will be an Artist", or "I will take either role"--this last is always appreciated, particularly as we get close to the end and I've got an imbalanced load.)

For those who are curious, or who want a bit of reminiscing, here's the final results from Round 1 and Round 2.

What the hell, this time I'm willing to be an artist. I've got the graphics tools I like and can use on here, so let's bring it on!

I'm perfectly OK with taking second slot if you want first artist.

I would love to be an artist, but I'll never have time to do a drawing (that I would still eventually suck at). Could I have a writer's slot again, please?

I'll gladly take wither writer or artist as needed, prefer writer though.

I'll go writer this time as well. But you know I swing both ways as needed.

Bump and grind, or somesuch!

Also, note that the line-up may alter if I need to take some folks up on their kind offers to switch-hit, but stated preferences early on do help you get 'dibs'.
