I would like to just respectfully disagree, but my inner troll insists that Run DMC's cover of Walk This Way is better than the original - especially the guitar part.

You're allowed to disagree. But, from this musician's perspective, the Aerosmith version is better produced, better performed, better played, better recorded, and simply more iconic than the Beatles' version.

And, as others have no doubt pointed out, Perry and Tyler played on the DMC version of Walk This Way (which, honestly is better than the original...)

Judy Collins takes virtually every cover and makes it her own.

One of the most beautiful voices I've ever heard.

This is an old whaling song from the 1850s.

I was telling my wife about this thread and she reminded me that I need to bring up Renegades of Funk. The Rage Against the Machine cover is both more famous and much better. For comparison, I have included the original Afrika Bombaataa video from 1983.

Alot of artists have covered Antonio Carlos (Tom) Jobim's classic "Waters of March" (he actually wrote both an English and Portuguese version)

My all-time favorite cover was by Elis Regina.

She also sang this as a duet with Jobim, which is also excellent.

Just had a chance to play that video....hilarious!

I love that one! (Had a memorable conversation with a friend in college who didn't - but that's a story for another day.)

How could I forget Muse's cover of Feeling Good?
