I do think Dan's idea for extra steps is a good one, though, and picking up on the MM idea, how about having a series of monster based titles with smaller steps going from 2 to 1000?

I had something like that at 1st but then several people started to bitch that they were to close together and to random. Now that there is an ordered system and have 500 post count jumps people bitch. If I switch systems again people will just start to bitch again in 6 months.

I'd be willing to deal with both the work and the bitching of a new title system but only if I get something in return.

A reputation system.

It's where people can basically give a or a to someone for saying/doing something really awesome or really terrible in a post. It would keep track of the total which would (probably) be shown like one's post count.
It's basically a rating system like Ebay rates sellers/buyers.

Personally, I'd be willing to give it a shot as long as there was a certain limit to how much rep someone could give in a certain time.
