This discussion has made me glad I work from 2:45 to 11pm and both work and live in the middle of nowhere.

Dealing with rush hour traffic doesn't sound fun.

This discussion made me glad that both my apartment and my workplace are walking distance from stations along the same train route. Hell, I don't even have to worry about the new speeding cameras going up.

Makes me glad I work from 11pm to 7am, and my route home goes away from downtown, so I get to point and laugh at the gridlock the entire trip home.

I just started reading A Girl and her Fed today. It's been rather amusing, this is a good summation strip:

My wife loses her mind riding with me during rush hour because I just get in the lane I need to be in for my next turn and wait it out.

The root cause of most traffic jams on highways is people waiting until the last minute to get in the lane they need to be in.

For the most part this is what I do. If I'm in for a long haul I will usualy move to lane 2 and when I'm within around 5 miles I move over to where I need to be. On surface streets, if I know I'm gunna be turning left I will sit in the left lane. I try to drive safely as I can because I know that sometimes I get disctracted and I want space to mess up a little if I can. I hate tailgaters.

My friend who acted as my DD when I went out drinking years ago would get so fixated on tailgaters that she almost rear ended other cars on multiple occasion. She was such a bad driver that people honestly asked me to drive while half in the bag instead of her stone sober.
