 Re: Ponies
Whelp, that video was dumb. Seriously? People are hating on MLP because they feel threatened in their masculinity? The only difference between the MLP phenomenon and every other instance of grown men liking something that conventional norms would concider suitable for kids and/or the opposite gender is the fact that some MLP-fans feel the need to drag their love for the show to every single corner of the Internet. Thus it has become very well known and extremely widespread. Now some people just don't like the show. Constant exposure to something you don't like, breeds dislike and even hatred. Combine that with the fact that people on the Internet are jerks and you get Bronie-haters. It's that simple. DistinctlyBenign wrote: If underage pony sextoys it 'tame' to you, how about you give us some examples of what you consider 'extreme dark' fandom of something. So can I asume you haven't read the MLP fanfic in which Big Macintosh brutally murders and rapes the cutymark crusaders? Or moving away from MLP, how about that sexdoll of Tali some Mass Effect fan made? Or what about the mods for Oblivion that add sex and prostitution to the game complete with disturbingly wellmade animations (complete with custom ones for child models and dogs). Yes those are real things. I wish they weren't, but they are. I agree that this sort of thing is creepy and in some cases rather dark and disturbing, but this is all really standard stuff. Meaning you can see similar creepy shit like this everywhere on the Internet and in every single fandom there is.

Bronies are still far and away the tamest large fandom I've ever encountered. If underage pony sextoys it 'tame' to you, how about you give us some examples of what you consider 'extreme dark' fandom of something. First off ... Lyra may very well be an adult. She doesn't have the 'little kid' character model, so it may not be an underage pony sex toy. Just a gross pony sex toy. Secondly, for dark I'd start with Star Trek, where impotent nerd rage can and has led to physical violent at cons. Also about seven-ish(?) years ago when an Orion slave girl cosplayer was sexually assaulted and the perps used the excuse of her costume (and the characer that goes with it) as defense. Going away from Star Trek, there's the Shipping wars among Avatar and Harry Potter communities that have frequently ended in actual violence (what the fuck people?), among other, less ridiculous, reactions. Basically, when people start using it as an excuse to hurt people, then it's fucking dark. And absurd. Writing about underaged characters doing their thing? Fake violence of whatever sort? Ridiculous sex dolls? Meh, whatever. Nobody's gotten hurt yet. That's pretty tame. And I'm fine with that.

Strangely, The Werefrog haven't watched the show yet, so don't know the characters. The only pony The Werefrog know is Derpy Pony, who apparently likes muffins and delivers the mail. However, she was removed from the show.

Rainbow Dash and Thor are both the types that will run off half cocked. Spike is a baby dragon, who on one episode changed into a big dragon, much like the Hulk.

As far as I'm aware, Derpy has not actually been removed from the show. The character has always been more of a running gag in the background for fans to find. Of course i dont hunt down info about the show so i may be wrong and wont know for sure until the third season starts in the fall.

The creators of the show decided to remove her after they learned why the fans named her "Derpy" and that it came from a derogatory term for mentally disabled people. Whether or not Derpy stays gone, is a different matter. They should have a mentally disabled pony for all the mentally disabled fans to have someone to relate on the show.

 Re: Ponies
Either way, they gave Derpy Hooves a speaking part and actually made her name canon. I'm more than happy with that.
