Post Cold Days - Massive SPOILERS showing!!!
Fair warning, there will be spoilers and I'm not hiding them nor encouraging anyone else to do so. So close the thread now if you aren't interested. I just hate having to open those little spoiler boxes. Please read only if you have finished the book!

I'm going to be brief for now since I'm on my iPad and dislike typing on it for the most part. But I just finished the book. I punched a wall in frustration. I cried. I shouted obscenities. I made incoherent sounds of frustration.

Lets just start with the obvious. The ending of the book. I did not see Molly becoming the Winter Freaking Lady coming. Holy fuck! Dude.

The parasite in Harry's head? I still think is Lasciel and that she is going to be given life again. Not just as a figment, but real body and such.

And Mac. Oh wow. Yeah.. I have no idea how much more we are going to learn about Mac, but these tiny crumbs of info about him are building him up into something amazing, and I'm half afraid that if/when the full truth comes out, that my imagination may not live up to the truth. But I honestly have no guesses other than that he is some alcohol myth being playing at being human.

I think right now, my mind is still reeling over the ending of the book, and over how so many things are starting to fall into place. I think I want to reread or listen to the books all over again to try and pick out more facts and more hints about what is coming, now that this book has tied so many pieces of information together.

So anyway. What's on your mind? I just needed a place to vent, and I'm hoping other do too.

34% of the way through.

I'm enjoying it, but the constant pop culture references (from someone who's very nature should make it difficult to watch much pop culture) is getting a little tiresome.

I have to admit that I did not catch very man pop culture references, because I am not aware of pop culture for the most part. Im not sure if this is a good thing or a bad thing!

Just finished it.

I enjoyed it way more than Ghost Story. I lurve me some Fae. The book raised lots of interesting world building concepts, and I particularly enjoyed how everyone manipulated Dresden through the entire book, just trying to nudge him toward where he needed to go, as one might do with a stubborn mule.

The Ladies were put down /way/ too easy. Halloween or not, what the fuck. Harry's Scoobies got shot multiple times and shrugged off nastier stuff. Two gunshots and two of the most powerful ladies in creation are down? That was a bit anticlimatic. Still, after all the epic build-up, how could the ending have really lived up?

I think it was for-shadowed that the end would come swiftly, and also actually Halloween did not come into it. No immortals were killed, only the host body of the Lady summer and winter was destroyed so a gunshot to the head is not really out of bounds i think especially if you consider that there defenses were down.

I also enjoyed this a lot more then Ghost Story, really because it was much more Dresden Like.

Mac - I really have to wounder whats is going on there, i have a theory that he might be some kind of angel but its sketchy. I do not believe he is fey of nature.

Lash - i really hope she eventually comes back, i was kind of hoping it might be this book but i think she will pop up again in the next one witch i assume will be more centered around the Knights, Fallen and that group.

i am slightly dissapoint in MAC's character. i have always enjoyed the character he was in the past. he was a symbol of stability, he represented a place of of Peace and a little bit of true humanity in an otherwise uncertain and constantly changing world. this stability/certainty has been lost with Mac and his establishment. not that this is a bad thing, it's just not what i wanted.

i also didn't see much point in him being on the island. as a character all he did was get shot, and moan about it a little. i get it that Harry didn't exactly trust him, however having Sarissa around lead to a big AHA! where was Mac's AHA!

It was when the bullet was mentioned, and his refusal to take drugs when he had been beaten up. Its a lot more low key AHA

I liked it, but the ending didn't feel right. I mean, everything made sense. I get what happened. It just didn't seem right. Can't put my finger on it.

I liked it. None of the things mentioned so far bothered me. Three things did:

1) the Murphy/Dresden thing is getting frustrating. Either have them get together or don't. The endless holding pattern, with numerous angsty discussions about what a bad idea it would be, has been done. For about six books now. (Sigh)

2) Lily at the end. Where did all the resentment of Harry and wizards come from? Yes, I get that Mave has been lying to her for years, and yes she had some legitimate gripes...but there had been no sign of simmering anger in her in any of the other books in which she appears. If that had really been a gradual deception, shouldn't there have been? I kept thinking it must've popped up because she was infected, but then she wasn't. To me, it seemed pretty clear he was just rewriting her because this was something he just thought up for this book. Which shouldn't be so obvious.

3) He fixed just about everything else that was wrong about Ghost Story, but not the Thomas/Justine problem...which was the *only* thing which BROKE UNIVERSE CONTINUITY!
