Re: Need help with comic book titles!
Stuff I liked from back then:
I really enjoyed WildC.A.T.S. and Cyberforce. I have since been told this makes me a Philistine. Oh well.
If you can find Superboy (vol 3) Annual #1, pick it up. It's one of the best alien invasion storylines I've run across in my comics reading.
The Flash is pretty good.
That was when Kingdom Come came out. If you can find those, they're spectacular.
That's also when Astro City started. Even more spectacular than Kingdom Come, albeit in a completely different way. (The Confession storyline is one of my favorite fictional stories in any medium or genre, period)
Battle Chasers, though unfinished and a bit more over-the-top artistically than even most other comics, was TREMENDOUS fun.

X-Factor #71, I think, 1991.
Captain America #268, 1982.
The Avengers #231, 1983.
Green Lantern #20 and #24, 1992, and #13, 2006.
And a Rick Astley record.
I saw a lot of the titles mentioned here, but half of the suggestions were posted after I'd already gone. Fortunately, I will be living in close proximity to that store from September to April, so I will have plenty of time to find them again.
I really like X-Factor (it's the only one I've read so far.) There's an entire subplot with a jar of mayonnaise. It's wonderful. Issue 71 of X-Factor completely changes the direction and team. I loved the older stuff, but haven't read much in the 71-100 range. I really like it. You can definitely tell the characters apart by tone of speech (which is something I often have trouble with), and there's a good balance of funny and serious stuff. Of course, I've only read the one issue. I don't know what it was like later.

How could I forget?
Gen13 was my favorite comic in the 90's. Be sure to look at some of that if you get the chance.

Re: Need help with comic book titles!
I will have to echo Timespike with The Flash volume 2, But the Superman and Wonder Woman reboot of the 80's is the way comics should be. And if I had to make a choice The New Teen Titans all the way.

What can I say? Ai Yori Aoshi takes a tired, generally poorly-executed genre and does it right. Especially the comic. That thing is downright heartbreaking at points, especially later in. Take a look at Honey and Clover and B Gata H Kei then. The first is a romantic series featuring characters with actual emotional maturity, the second is pretty much the opposite and completely hilarious as a result.

I actually own "B Gata H Kei", but it throws me everytime someone refers to it by it's Japanese title. I first heard about it in reviews and found my used copy in a store under the US name. "Yamada's First Time". I thought the show was very amusing.

That's the first issue of Peter David's first run on X-Factor. It alternates between deadly serious and light-hearted so its the perfect superhero book. David leaves after issue 91 or so. He picked up the same characters for his current X-Factor run, though they're now private detectives instead of government operatives.

If you enjoyed his X-Factor you might want to give his Incredible Hulk a try. I even have a Hulk novel that he wrote and enjoy that as well.
