13 Little-Known Punctuation Marks We Should Be Using

Some of these actually are useful, but some of them strike me as unnecessarily complicated. And I love unnecessary complications, so that should say something right there.

The Werefrog love the interrobang, but the rest are useless.

Ugh those all made me twitch. Especially the interrobang. I hate interrobangs with a fiery passion.

Interrobangs are the best punctuation mark, followed closely by the ellipse and then the semicolon.

Really? A lot of these seem like they'd be invaluable for online text-based communication if they got any traction. Being able to denote sarcasm, doubt, certitude, or authority with punctuation would do a lot to replace the inflection of spoken speech.

My biggest gripe is that people can't seem to learn (or be bothered) to use punctuation online half the time anyway, so I doubt these would have much of a positive effect on, for example, YouTube comment threads. Places like these forums, though? I'll bet you'd notice a positive difference. Of the ones on that list, I'd use the Percontation Point, Certitude Point, Doubt Point, Authority Point, SarcMark, and Question Comma if they were widespread enough to not be jarring.

For things like Internet communication? Absolutely helpful. Not pretty, but practical. For writing? No. Using punctuation to signify mood and tone is horrible. And yeah...the interrobang is abused to no end.

I'm sorry, but I thought those were sort of dumb.
Also, they are almost entirely useless seeing as I cannot type any of them.

I have no emoticons on my phone, but I love you for that comment, Mr. Memo

True. There is no way to create an emoticon with just regular keys. :P
