Post Hiatus from a series
So I read OOTS religiously for a really long time, up until around the mid 600s. But then school kicked my ass for 2 back to back quarters and I broke the routine, and now I'm over 200 strips behind, and have forgotten a lot of the continuity.

What do you guys do when you stop reading a series part way through not because you list interest, but just because other things got in the way long enough for you to get out of the habit of reading them, and distance you from the story characters ect. and you have forgotten most of what you read. Do you just read the wiki for the books/issues you've already read and start where you left off? Do you go back to the beginning and start from scratch?

I've taken both approaches. It usually depends upon my ability to remember the cast. Sometimes I'll just drop back one "book" worth, so as to make falling into the story again easier. If I'm looking at characters and having no clue who they are, I might just fall back to the beginning.

It depends, too, on how long the series is. Something like a book series, I'll probably go back to just before where I left off. If it's a cartoon series, I'm more likely to go back quite a ways, to get the pace and feel of it.

I pretty much always start from scratch. Then again, I'm the sort that periodically rereads things anyway, even without a hiatus, so when there is one, it's a no-brainer for me.

If I can remember what was going on in the storyline, I pick up where I left off.

If I can't, I back up to the beginning of the "chapter" and start from there.

Also, with the artist currently unable to draw due to a hand injury, this is a good time to work on catching up.

I usually pick up where I left off, although I was a lot better at keeping plotlines in my head for an obscenely long time when I was younger, so I should probably stop being so boneheadded about it.
