They wanted to go with a lot more recognizable toys but couldn't get rights. Companies were shy of putting their profitable brands into a movie when Pixar wouldn't sign off creative rights. Yeah... Barbie sure as hell showed up for the sequel. And now Wreck-It Ralph is having zero problems lining up all sorts of real game characters. Though I am sure they would have loved to get more real modern characters.

Man on a Ledge: Bad writing in places. Bad acting in places. Some interesting cinematography. Token Black Guy. Fairly Predictable.
All in all: not recommended.

Got my Brit SF on. I've finished the first disc of Torchwood: Miracle Day as well as The Fades.
If you like The Walking Dead but hate stupidity and shallow characterization then The Fades is for you.
