Re: What have you watched recently?
Did not watch the show, but I read somewhere that the plan was to come back each year with a new cast and location.

Re: What have you watched recently?
8 episodes total. The season (and perhaps series) finale has aired. The whole thing is on Hulu. They complete their primary purpose in the season, which is nice. BUT there is a big cliff-hanger at the end of the finale. The show didn't have stellar ratings, so odds of a second season are slim. Ironically, I'm cool either way. While the cliff-hanger clearly points to the problem they would have to solve in seasons two (and on), it also kinda nicely caps the first season. If that's all we get, I can live with it. Which is a nice place to be. It's horror. It is not gory but there is blood and disturbing stuff. People do die. I won't say who. The conceit is that is being filmed for a reality show - nature documentary kind of thing - which explains all the cameras. But while it does take advantage of some of the cheap scares you get from the limited view of the camera, dark/poor filming, etc., it rarely feels all shakey-cam.

Season premiere of Eureka. This is a show not afraid to completely yank the carpet out from everything... twice!

Tucker and Dale vs. EvilThis was about what I expected. It was fun and both Alan Tudyk and Tyler Labine are great in their title roles. It does suffer a bit from some formulaic tripe--being a counter-formula film in it's concept--but it's not too overdone.

Re: What have you watched recently?
Doctor Who: Planet of the Daleks (John Pertwee era serial) There is a lot to like in this serial but overall it was just "ok." I think my expectations were too high as it was the first Dalek serial written by Dalek creator Terry Nation in several years. Terry Nation did know how to keep things going. Despite being a 6 parter, it never drags, but the overall plot seems to wander around quite a bit (even if at high speed.) This is Katy Manning's second to last serial and I am starting to think that she left just in time. The show seemed to be getting a bit stale. I'm hoping thaat Sara Jane breathes new life into the show. Side Note: The DVD looks very good - especially considering that it was sourced from a black and white film copy of the episode. Favorite line from the commentary track, from script editor Terrance Dicks: "Classic Terry Nation writing: Put the characters in a bad situation...and then make things worse."

Re: What have you watched recently?
The Dungeon Masters on Hulu.
Eh. I could recognize people I know/knew in the different people on the screen. I could recognize myself if I'm being honest at times. There were a few moments of really powerful self-reflection. And a lot of self-wankery. I few moments I really wanted to reach through and either give the subject a pep talk (the aspiring author on getting slapped down) or try to slap some sense into the subject (the guy who keeps ending campaigns in spectacularly bad fashion).
But it's not something I would strongly recommend to anyone who is not already hip deep in the hobby.
