Re: Avengers Assemble (bound to be spoilers a plenty)
Finally saw this.
On one hand: Awesome fights! Tons of Superheros! The scene with Thors hammer hitting Capt's sheild was really cool, I also enjoyed the line "Puny God".
On the other hand: The plot felt kinda... samey. I mean, I know in all superhero movies the good guys have to win, but it didn't even really feel like a struggle to me. On the airship tensions were high and everything was good, it was making out to be a really fun film but when the fight moved to Manhattan it almost felt like I was watching some people grind in city of heroes.
EDIT: Basically the plot was good whenever the hulk was Bruce banner, and bad whenever he was the hulk.
EDIT 2: Also I would argue that the scene where The Hulk tries and fails to lift Mjölnir was inaccurate. Yes, the hammer has an enchantment where no one who isn't worthy couldn't lift it. Hulk should not have been able to lift it, true. But as seen in the proceeding scenes whatever that ship is made out of is like paper to the hulk. I conclude he should have ripped himself through the floor while trying to lift it.

But the one death he’s not to blame for is spoiler alert Agent Phil Coulson. That’s all Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige’s fault.
“In our first meeting Kevin Feige said, this is what we’re gonna do and I said, ‘Oh but you have to go out there and tell everybody that it was your idea because this is going to get me so much shit. Because they are all going to be like, “Oh he did it again!”‘” Whedon said in a new interview with io9.http://www.ifc.com/fix/2012/05/joss-whe ... agic-scene

Now, if Capt america picked it up, I would have been ok with that since that's in comics

It's my thing. But Jhosshs Wheaoadin doesn't deserve to have his name spelled right. Well, it was still stupid, but at least it wasn't Whedon being stupid. FTFY

Simply assume that whatever momentum is applied by someone who is "unworthy" dissipates, and the problem is solved.

^ Why is this thread taking so long to load? ...............99% I loved the Avengers so much. I liked that the writers were able to tap in to some of the nuances of the character's motivations. I'm glad Whedon was also on board with the writing. - Sam

OMG!! BEST MOVIE EVAR!!!
Well, not really... Since Spiderman 2 anyway.
The pacing, the banter.. It was like watching a good comic. A bit formulaic, but then, that's what you read a comic book for.
When This is out on disk, I'm going to watch it with my boys. I am kind of strict with what they watch... Daniel will love this Hulk, and Simon will flip when he sees Cap.

As far as I'm concerned it was the best comic book movie ever. I had no complaints at all. The fight scenes were like nothing I have ever seen dome successfully in a live action movie before.
