Avengers Assemble (bound to be spoilers a plenty)
Couldn't find an existing thread in the first five pages, so... Finally, after the long long wait, it's here at last. So, what did you think?

I just want to know if they managed to not have this be "Ironman and Friends" or stop Robert Downey Jr stealing every scene he's in. The trailers have made it seem unlikely.

Re: Avengers Assemble (bound to be spoilers a plenty)
I have seen several of the tv clips - most don't have iron man in them. As a fan of Firefly, I think that JW is the perfect director for this. I don't say that out of fanboyism. I have seen little of Buffy or Angel. Firefly is a great example of a show that had several interesting characters that were made interesting in the way they related to each other. That is what could make this movie great and that is what the clips have shown. Btw, LF, it does not open over here until may 4th. I think it opens over there before that.

I saw an explanation for this from a studio exec. It's on purpose and it comes down to money. Of all the preceding movies Iron Man was the most popular. More people (notably non-fanboys) will be attracted by this. They can already pretty much count on the fanboys money.

Like Thac0's Studio Exec predicted, I would rather go see Iron Man 3.

Re: Avengers Assemble (bound to be spoilers a plenty)
Another thing:
I think they are overhyping how much money this movie is expected to gross. They are talking about Dark Knight sized business and I'm not sure where that comes from. Iron Man is the highest grossing of any of the movies leading up to it. Do they think there is a bunch of Thor fans that saw Thor but didn't see Iron Man? Do they think there is a bunch of people that didn't see any of the movies leading up to it but are going to see this one? Do they think that people are going to see it over and over again?
I expect that it is going to do really well, but I'll be very surprised if it becomes the highest grossing movie of all time. Heck, it might not even be the highest grossing movie of 2012.
