Brianne is so awesome. I loved her and Jamie together in the books and I think they play it well in the show.
Dinklage again pulls off a great performance, and the Lannisters just . . . just . . . God I hate them.
The more I dwell on it, the more I liked every story line last night. A good season finale. It was an awesome finale! However, I had to look up what happened to Winterfell. I didn't think it was very clear what had happened. Of course, since I haven't read the books (at least, not more than half the first book), maybe that wasn't revealed until book three anyway. The acting was really spectacular in the finale, and I'm just so excited to see what happens next. Wish I had time to read multiple thousand pages to find out...

Dunno I've been thinking about this since you posted it Chris. I really think you're spot on. His books are written much like episodic television. There are plot lines or incidents that begin and end and you can't see what they have to do with someone ascending to the Iron Throne or the "end game" as it were. When I first started reading the books I was always curious about "how will this come into play in the end?" or "how will this character be key to XX ascending the throne." But I stopped doing that and I think I was correct. I can't say that I was a fan of the TV show "Dallas" but my mother was, so I know I took a lot of it in passively. But that show keeps coming to mind as I think about this. There are all these characters with various motives acting as Machiavellianly (can I make that an adverb?) as possible to control an oil empire, but they didn't set out with a "7 season" story line that would all tie up nice and neat with a bow at the end. Just some free writing so I can avoid working on this Monday.

Brienne is one of my favorite characters from the books, but I like her even more on HBO. Very cool to see someone with a code of conduct that can remain a complete badass. Season 3 should completely rock.

Yeah, because I think you are lead to believe in the beginning of the series/books that the Starks are the good guys and thus will eventually triumph, and that clearly does not happen, unless their road to final peace is so rocky it completely transforms them.

Re: HBO's A Game of Thrones
I did enjoy the finale as well. I really liked Arya's ending plotline... I was able to understand what is happening to hear more clearly now than I did in the books.
My hope is that this doesn't suffer the same fate as 'Deadwood' after three seasons.

My hope is that this doesn't suffer the same fate as 'Deadwood' after three seasons. That would truly blow. Deadwood was such a great series, and the letdown was just brutal.
