Never bought off GOG before. Do I need to do any hoodoo to make it run on Windows 7?

Re: System Shock 2 is now on GOG
GoG's primary MO is: - Getting old games to run properly on modern systems with no effort required on the part of the end user, and
- Removing any DRM that was present in the original release (primarily in service to #1).
Steam has been working overtime to catch up, and is now eclipsing GoG in some respects. There's more overlap now in the selection, and the fact that Steam centralizes your game library makes them attractive ("Sure, I can buy Fallout 1 and 2 from GoG and have the install files sit on my hard drive, but I can buy them from Steam for the same price, and just install them with the click of a button"). It's an issue of convenience vs. actually owning the software. -- Ben

Re: System Shock 2 is now on GOG
Thanks for the heads up! I tried to get this working a few years ago and couldn't mange it.
My eyes might start bleeding after going from a heavily upped graphics modded Skyrim to this but I'll deal.
Am I reading this correctly... is there working co op on this game?

A discussion on the matter.I'll also add for those who haven't used GoG before, you generally need to find the config file and open it with notepad to adjust the resolution. They include a config utility, but I've not always had luck with it actually working, so I just do it manually. Also if you have issues with the colors not appearing right, change the render method from Surface to ddraw or one of the other render methods. Should fix that. Not that System Shock 2 will use dosbox, I think it was a windows game. . .

Excellent.
I've been plundering system shock 2 sound effects for battletech, and my players are now insisting I play it so I understand why it's giving them nightmares.

It dumped a shortcut on my desktop; that worked fine, and I could change resolution to ALL THE PIXELS, EVER in-game.
