Post Spy Party
Got into the beta and started playing today.

Holy shit, is this one of the most tense games I've ever played. The rounds are quick and asymmetrical. One player is the spy, who has to achieve a certain number of missions and one is the sniper, trying to tell the spy apart from the AI NPCs.

I'm so-so as a spy and total shit as a sniper. I haven't gotten a hang of who to highlight/lowlight when and never seem to be looking in the right place at the right time.

Any booters on this?

Not familiar with it. All I found was something asking for $15 to beta test. :eh:

That's the one.

There aren't many games that I get stomped at like this and want to get better. This scratches the itch that The Ship and Assassin's Creed multiplayer gives me.

Kind of an informal Kickstarter project, I suppose. That's what I gathered from his website, at any rate.

Pretty much. He had sign ups for the beta about a year ago. He's been opening the beta slowly for a few months and I just finally got in.

I'm going to hit it later tonight again, but I have a feeling I'm going to play the hell out of this.

Upon further investigation, this sounds like a riotous good time! Definitely not for run-and-gun people. I don't have the cash for accessing the beta right now, but it would be friggin' awesome if I could trick people into not shooting me.

Huh. I thought this was already out ages ago. I remember hearing about it a while back. Glad to see it's still around and kicking.

The concept was kinda taken by Assassin's Creed Brotherhood. Minus the tasks.

In Spy Party, you try to get the Sniper to shoot the wrong person. So you learn the activities of the bystanders and try to mimic that. Then try to get the Sniper to think a bystander did something unusual and snipes the guy.

In assassin's creed brotherhood, you've got a target that might look like a bunch of other people in the crowd. You've got to kill that person but if you kill the wrong person, you lose your contract and can't kill the other player any more.

It's a very different game, though.

Assassin's Creed has more in common with The Ship, which is an excellent PC Multiplayer game. You're hunting someone and someone is hunting you.

In Spy Party, you're either the hunter or the hunted. As a spy, all you can do is hide. As a sniper, all you can do is observe and try to find the spy.

I play a lot of Assassin's Creed multiplayer and have a lot of fun with it. Spy Party is more skill based.

And I'd say you're not trying to get the sniper to shoot someone else. You're trying to not be seen by the sniper at all. The best spy win in Spy Party is when a shot is never fired.
