Saw BV mention this so I DL'ed it and gave it a spin. Interesting game! I've played in one battle using a German tank because I'm an outrageous racist.

Anyone playing this? Got any advice?

Yea I used to play a lot. I think its still around here somewhere. Stick with your first tank for a while, any further tank will have to be repaired after battle if you lose it.

Also plan what type of tank you would want to go for. Do a bit of research cuz I wasted money just bumbling around looking for a good end goal.

and have fun!

Thanks for the tips. I don't plan on spending a dime on this game.

So if I research and buy any tank above the 1st level and it gets blown up in one game I lose it forever? Do you earn enough to keep buying nice tanks just via playing?

Well I meant in game gold :P You buy upgrades and new tanks as you run matches. You don't lose it forever, but you have to repair it before you can use it in another match. New tanks are a bit harder to buy, so expect to be in the first and second tier of tank for a bit as you get used to everything and upgrade a bit.

And dont be afraid to try all races out to get a real feel for it. Gives the advantage of understanding enemy weaknesses when they use em

I tried it, and enjoyed it. I will have to work on un-learning my finely-tuned FPS precognition and on learning the trajectories and finer points of the tanks. Also, lots and lots of grinding for cash.

Aaron Stack and I teamed up with voice chat, WoT, and the wiki and got our heads wrapped around the economy. You will have to fight a lot to get the cash needed to advance but at least that's playing the game, not like WoW where you camp a spawn for a week killing the same thing over and over hoping for the rare drop.

I think the only question I have now is that I noticed on the wiki there are something like 25 or 30 maps but I've only ever played on 3 after dozens of different games. How do I fight on the different maps?

I play way too much... T30 heavy, King Tiger, Sold my Pershing when I unlocked the Patton, T54, GW Panther, T25AT, SU152, Panther... Plus a Type 59 and Lowe for grinding credits. :D

Best advice I have is to learn the weak spots. Obviously sides and rear, but generally hulls are weaker then turrets and the lower glacis plate is weaker still. That's the bottom part of the front hull. Relentlessly seek the flanks and as soon as you can, get an arty. This is mostly so that you can get a feel for what arty can and can't do. Once you get a feel for the tanks, decide what you like play style wise and target a certain line.

Personally I like the Marder II a lot in lower tiers... it can pen anything it gets matched up with, but it has weak armor. The Soviet heavy line is good... there is a definite Soviet bias, not a surprise. The US medium line is good, and the T29 heavy US tank can be unstoppable but you need to get through the T1 and M6.

If you have any questions or want to platoon, hit me up. I have a few low tier tanks and enjoy playing them. Especially my Mini-Maus (Pzkpfw38H735omgwtfbbqetc). That little tank is sick. :D

ETA: BottledViolence there too.

Lower tiers get sent to a few maps all the time, as you go up tiers you hit the others more frequently. Mines, Himmelsdorf, Campinovka, and another are the low tier maps IIRC.

ETA: keep an eye out for promo codes, many can be used repeatedly, and give gold and premium tanks. Premium tanks may not be better but they earn more credits and are cheaper to fix.

Tanks for the advice!

I'll be sure to add you. Right now I'm saving up to get into a medium tank, I might switch over and run around with the light stuff from the other nations.

Also, I'm prorpger on there.

I'd love to join up with you and get some veteran advice. It seems that the game is easy to learn, difficult to master. Loving it so far.
