I tend prioritize having an organized inventory in this game. This includes building a multitude of categorized chests. Whenever I am near the chests, I empty my inventory of everything I will not be using within the next five minutes. Whenever I need to leave my base to do something important, I go to the chests to get the exact items I need and take nothing else with me.

This makes watching Minecraft videos on Youtube a bit weird, because apparently no one knows how to use a fricken chest in this game. People will go through the trouble of building weapons and armor for the sole purpose of raiding a dungeon they recently found and looting all the stuff from it. Despite all this preparation, no one ever thinks that it might be a good idea to leave their fence posts, flint, and coblestone in a chest to make room for the loot. They'll even throw their mushrooms on the ground instead of putting them in the same chests they JUST looted buckets from.

No joke, I just watched a guy with a full inventory swap one stack of items for another stack of items in a half-empty chest. He then turns around and starts trying to take items out of a furnace, only he has no space to put anything. So he scrambles to figure out what items he can leave IN the furnace in exchange for the items he wants to take FROM the furnace... THERE IS A FREAKING EMPTY CHEST RIGHT NEXT TO YOU!!! GYAAAAH!!!!

The worst part is that no matter how hard I yell at my computer screen, they never seem to take a hint.
