Re: In the Lady's Shadow 2.0 (IC)
Once Emfrid and the elves are clear, Morlan kicks the door open. The flying door crashes into a drow beyond, sending him toppling over onto the floor below a ledge.
The room is a large, open chamber with a floor 20' lower than the door. A steep set of stairs runs north along the western wall until it reaches the ground. The remains of several stacks indicate that this was once a quite extensive library though very little remains after the looters and/or drow.
The poor fellow who had come up to check on the noisy slaves manages to overcome his surprise and disorientation to trigger his innate levitation power in enough time to keep from smashing his head on the ground.
Four drow sit sharing a meal of fungus and lizard meat at a sturdy, ancient reading desk. They appear to have been debating something intensely before the interruption, and are now quick to go for their swords.
A half-drow with tan-blond hair and human features is picking through the busted stacks for treasures. Another drow tends to a trio of pack-laden riding lizards by the south door. He produces a wrist crossbow at the sudden interruption.
You guys have a surprise round.

Re: In the Lady's Shadow 2.0 (IC)
Yul will grab cover and concentrate on the face of the pale drow. He will draw a mental picture of the blond aberration and concentrate the skin of its face to the molecular level - causes the the molecules to agigate against one another thereby generating a increasingly intense heat.
GU, there is no save for this (not a spell) nor is it a touch attack (Yul doesn't have any touch attacks as that would require a decent THAC0 - his is shit) and no prerequisite devotion or power Yul has to employ. No first round prep time either. (all reasons whyI chose it). It is rather taxing on Yul, so after three rounds he will break off the attack unless the drow is dispatched sooner. Molecular Agitation Molecular agitation enables the user to excite the molecules of a substance: paper ignites, wood smolders, skin blisters, water boils...etc. The list belolw shows what's possible, depending on how many rounds the substance is agitated.
round: readily flammable materials (e.g., paper, dry grass) ignite, skin becomes red and tender (1 point of damage), wood becomes dark. rounds: wood smolders and smokes, metal becomes hot to the touch, skin blisters (1d4 points of damage), hair smolders, paint shrivels. rounds: wood ignites, metal scorches (1d4 points of damage) skins burns away (1d6 points of damage), water boils, lead melts (damage does not increase after this round, but does continue). rounds: steel grows soft. rounds: steel melts. Where magical items are concerned, allow saving throws against destruction, but add a +10 penalty to the saving throw number (this heat is quite destructive, coming from inside the material rather than outside).

Joshua silently curses the elves, figuring that they'll be immune to his preferred combat opening of putting his foes to sleep.
He draws both his weapons and charges for the elves at the table.

Re: In the Lady's Shadow 2.0 (IC)
Oh, I just have to try this... The drow who was knocked off the ledge, who fell 20 feet and just managed to stop himself hitting the floor with a smack... ...suddenly an elf jumps down upon him, using his body to cushion the impact, and with a sword point down in front (possibly taking him through the neck or face as the feet hit in the stomach region). After the blow Morlan will roll to the side and come up in a fighting stance facing the table of four drow. I expect this will require at least a DEX check and quite possible some other skill check, like tumbling or somesuch, in addition to a 'to hit' roll, but if it works I might get a surprise backstab from it. Do whatever you feel is right, Goat.

During the surprise round, Mel stands there in indecision; the first full round, he will follow his fellows in, preparing to heal or position himself to prevent flanking on his comrades, whatever is necessary.

Re: In the Lady's Shadow 2.0 (IC)
Instead of using his wand of Magic Missile, Dunn will use Phantasmal Force to make the ghosts and wights of dead elves rise up through floors and walls on all sides of the 4 seated drow and advance in a circle, vengeful and menacing, and see if the drow waste some effort trying to keep the ghosts at bay while the rest of our crew picks them off. Dunn will use normal ventriloquism (not the spell) to have voices say, in elven, from various directions but no specific source, vengence, la vengeance, les emmener avec nous, se fanent à la poussière, etc.
vengence, vengence, take them with us, wither to dust

Re: In the Lady's Shadow 2.0 (IC)
Morlan follows after the knocked-over drow, stepping up onto the low ledge of the stair and dropping onto his levitating body. A swipe of his blade (15 dmg) ruins what little remains of the drow's concentration, and the two of them collapse to the hard floor. Morlan wheels easily over one shoulder and comes up to one knee before the prone drow warrior. Dunn is next in the room, fingers furiously tangling the weave to create an illusion of vengeful elven spirits. Most of the drow appear to be taken in, fighting off the apparitions as they spill out from the walls and floor. Two of the drow seem to see the illusion for what it is, however (a female drow at the table and the half-drow near the stacks). Mellonion is as surprised as the drow by Morlan's sudden action, and remains torn about letting Emfrid and the elven captives run off on their own. Yul steps in alongside Dunn, focusing on the half-drow igniting the freak's face! (1 dmg) Joshua steps between his mentalist and mage buddies to race down the stairs and engage foes at the table. He manages an attack on the closest drow (critical hit! 14 dmg), cutting the lowly warrior down before he can even rise in fear for the ghosts. End of Surprise Round! Anyone changing tactics?

Re: In the Lady's Shadow 2.0 (IC)
What about Box?
Morlan gets two sword attacks and one dagger next round. If the prone drow is still alive Morlan will finish him off before moving on to the others. If he is already dead or dying Morlan will go straight in to the group around the table.
Morlan will continue fighting with sword and dagger until all the drow are dead or he can no longer continue fighting.

Re: In the Lady's Shadow 2.0 (IC)
Mel's priorities are thus:
1. Heal others if they are in need, even if it means taking a shot from one of the drow (he will sacrifice a defensible position to get to a comrade in need)
2. If no one needs healing, he will position himself in a defensive position to prevent members of the group from being flanked by drow, if possible.

Re: In the Lady's Shadow 2.0 (IC)
Not seeing any sign that any of the elves are priests, Joshua does not feel especially bloodthirsty. So he will attempt to get his sword to the female elf's throat, to bring the hostilities to a close.
