Joshua is unsure what's going on, but it seems clear the person dropped their wand somehow and were unwilling to talk.

Maybe the wand itself will give him some clues.

(OOC note: can only wizards use wands or can anyone? I remember making a 3.5 character for Forgotten Realms that I never got to play and I started with a wand even though I wasnt a magic user)

He glances into the city itself, looking to see if there's another relatively intact building that could house their group.

"I dont think he's going to see reason," Joe says quietly.

" I soften up the target and decide to go fishing?" Yul respond aloud to Joe in his usual colorless tone.

Joe thinks carefully, every path no seems to lead to death or betrayal.

"What do you see?" he asks Yul, "can we trust him?"

"He's a mess Joe. Sick of mind. Quite mad and afraid that you are here to steal his treasure. Morlock has moved in."

"Morlock, I will keep this conduit open for a few moments longer...if you care to share anything."

"Sounds like he's going to be trouble," Joshua mutters, "let's see if Morlock can win him over"

He shakes his head and listens for any response.

Yul looks quizzically at Joe and the look of concentration on his face and shaking of his head.
"Joe, did you not hear me. The wizard is out of his mind...Morlaock is in position." Yul repeats.

"Oh," Joe says somewhat shocked, miming a throat slit, "right..."

With the phobia lightened slightly, the half-elf works up the courage to peer from under his hands in Morlan's direction. His eyes are ringed with madness and panic.

"I just want to be left alone!" he shouts. "Why are you trying to take my claim?"

Ark watches the top of the tower with some interest. Turning to Yul he says, "I can levitate up if you think Morlan needs back up?"

Joshua's survey of the surrounding terrain turns up a few shadowy landmarks in the fog. There are several low, well-built structures jutting up from the seemingly endless rubble, though their original purposes are mostly indeterminable. The majority of standing construction is made up of thick curtain walls too sound to be knocked down by the sort of indirect damage that likely laid waste to the rest of the city.

"Morlan, Mel is prepared to join you if you so choose, Yes?"

Morlock looks down at the wretch and gives him an encouraging smile.

"We don't want to take anything from you. We are here to explore and dig up the hidden treasures that this place conceals. We also have a claim to this quadrant of the city, but we are prepared to share with you."

"Join us in friendship and you will receive a fair share of the spoils. But oppose us and it will go badly for you. We cannot tolerate having someone around who is a danger to us. That rod, for instance, we cannot trust you to not use against us. Earn our trust and you may get it back."

"What do you say?"
