"Oh he'll live. You know by our code that you're supposed to settle all disputes on shore with pistol and sword, and I should give you a whipping for it but I won't because I just had a nice chat with some of the gunners and it seems they've nominated you for captian. Since, by our code, nominees can resort to any tactics to gain crew favour, you've done nothing wrong but I'd keep my eye out for Dagger if I were you. See you on deck shortly, we've got a captain to chose." Connolly heads towards the main deck.

Hawk speaks to himself "good to hear the old man is gonna survive but I wonder if it'll just be long enough to cast a vote or shorter."

Before he proceeds to the main deck he decides to do one last sweep of daggers quarters, hopefully to learn something more about the decisions that were being made before he took over.

Hawk rifles through Daggers things and finds about 1 leisure worth of gold, a bottle of whiskey, and a journal straped under his bunk. Looking at the last couple pages with writting on them Hawk only finds one entry of note:

The captain got pretty drunk last night with Connolly. Overheard him say that the key to his retirement was in the hands of his favorite friends and most despised enemies. Now I just have to find out who these people are and I am one step closer

"Well that's almost no help, wonder if there was something he didn't put down." Hawk pocketed the gold and journal in his large coat pockets, hoping that maybe he would be able to sneak a quick conversation in with dagger, and maybe persuade him to talk.

Hawk makes his way to the infirmary and quietly peeks into the open door and sees Jack cleaning up his tools and lecturing Little Tim on the procedure he just performed on the now passed out Dagger.

As Jack is cleaning one of his straight razors, he happens to notice in the reflection that he is being watched by Hawk.

"If you bathed more regularly, you might get away with that. Speak your mind." And he slowly and confidently turns to the door with that I'm no stranger to blood grin on his face.

Hawk just has a look of mild annoyance. "I came to see if my old boss was in a chatting mood or not. Have a few questions I need him to answer if possible."

"Yer old boss is alive and kicking despite your handy work. And, he's still your superior until the new captain says otherwise. I do think you've taken the wind out of his sails and he's lost any taste for the vacancy."

"Either way someone has to be in charge while he's under your care, and I need a few questions answered. So if he's awake I would like a little chat with him gunner to gunner ya know." Hawk gets an annoyed smirk on his face, how this man helps people seems to be beyond his understanding.

"He's no good to ya now given that he's already passed out. And, I'm not too kind to giving you any private time right now. But, I can't leave him on the table either." Handsome Jack pauses to put his hand on his chin and think. "If you help Little Tim and I to haul this blubber back to his bunk, I'll be sure to let you know when he comes to."
