Re: Earthdawn: Vultures circle the Flames (IC)
The troll leads you in through the Parlainth gate and along the rubble strewn laneways. Once called the Grand Boulevards, the laneways are twenty feet wide and were intended to allow quick passage from one section of the city to another. Parlainth's dark history has warped them, however, and they are littered with baricades, holes to the city below, tangled vines, and other impediments that make fast movement risky at best. In the distance down the laneway you can see the Singing Fountain once a source of music and comfort, but now you can just make out, right at the edge of hearing, its constant screams. You veer left off the laneway into the Twists, and the light fades as the sky above you becomes more overcast. Once welcoming shop fronts are tattered and faded, covered in brittle stunted vines. Some of the shops have clearly been looted, and all seem intact. "This is your first landmark," the troll says, indicating a storefront. You note that the symbol of some adventuring group has been painted on it. The paint is flaking and faded. The same symbol appears on Atrii's map indicating you are at its edge. "Be careful brothers," the troll adds, "they say those who die in the Twists do not stay dead... they are not wrong." He glances around at the storefront windows, searching for any dead eyes that may be watching.

Ro' smiles "Many thanks for your help friend, we can swap tales and maps when we return. The unquiet dead are familiar to us in Creana, I have no wish to study them that closely"
With that Ro' moves of cautiously into the shadows in the general direction indicated by the map keeping a careful eye out for traps and for telltale signs of the unquiet dead.
At the end of each street/alleyway once he has check it is clear he will mark the sigil for the vulturis on a wall (he has ink) and then signal the group that it is safe for them to follow.

Your troll explorer friend leaves and you find yourself all alone in the most horror infested area in the whole of Barsaive, perhaps the whole of the Theran Empire.
Ro moves cautiously towards the first turning, and is certain he sees cold watching eyes from several upper story windows. Atrii's map, together with the troll's guide to explorer symbols confirm this as the initial area is marked with the symbols for "lair" and "death".

Re: Earthdawn: Vultures circle the Flames (IC)
When Ro' is certain there are no traps on their route he motions the others to join him.
Ro' makes a show of looking at his map and not looking at the windows saying "Well fellows, the very encouraging markers point to lair and death in our future, or more accurately in the direction we are heading on our map. I fear we are also being watched from the upper windows."
With a last look at the map Ro' whispers "I will move on to the next intersection and if it is safe i will signal you to follow, if the unquiet dead make a move in any numbers run for the exit, we are ill prepared to fight a war here, I will make my way out behind you as quickly as I can".
Ro' is not smiling as he moves off again in the shadows of the street, eyes alert for traps and danger.

(my description must be bad - the map and Ro's own observation show that there are creatures lairing in these buildings here. As in, if you go to the next intersection they will be behind you)

Atrii nods confirmation and stands back. While waiting for the signal, he steps back out into the boulevard and inspects one of the holes to 'the city below'.

Re: Earthdawn: Vultures circle the Flames (IC)
The architects of Parlainth were reluctant to spoil their perfect city with messy or unpleasant necessities, so they compromised by hiding the ugly side of life underground. Atrii's peering beneath the skin of the laneway shows the remains of slave tunnels, sewers, and shipping canals shrouded in darkness and dampness.
Ro has just rounded the corner when a luminescent figure of a beautiful women steps out of a building and follows after him.

Z'phir, recognizing the inherrent danger of the locale, places K'harro l'Thystonius in the tail holder ready for combat.
He keeps an eye around him in order to ensure no one gets the jump on us. Also, he checks out areas that would be easy to climb were he so inclined to get above the rest to find a way around, or to get the jump on another.
[edit]Since the woman was visible to us[/edit] Upon seeing the luminescent woman, Z'phir whispers, "I believe the trap may have been sprung. I shall see about ensuring the safety of the elf."
He, attempting as best he can, to stealthily follow, and at the first sign of the woman attacking, he attacks her to defend Ro.
However, he also keeps a bit of attention behind him lest any follow him around the same corner.
