My understanding is that a fiction is being maintained for Z'Phir's benefit. Atrii is pretending he wants to question the Warden about what he remembers.

Bringing Thok would probably shatter that illusion.

Though I'm not sure what's going to happen next. I am rubbish at the prediction game.

Z'phir is blissfully ignorant that doing what the horror tells him to do will allow him to be possessed. As such, he will do what the horror tells him to do unless he's given a good reason to not do so.
