 Re: Poison'd PBP(Mature)
Quartermaster works for me.
Sins committed: Murder x2 and Robbery x2. He has frequently been the Captain's muscle and it's been a dirty, dirty job. He's not an adulterer only because he's unmarried.
So my Soul is 4 and Devil is 4, correct?
Brutalities are specifically things that the Captain has done to him? If so...
Brutalities: Branding.
What do Accursing and Damnation mean here? I may choose those as well. I could also use a little more info on ambitions.

Leaning towards the ship's Surgeon/Barber. Certainly would go with a straight razor as a secondary weapon. -- TAZ

Although the definitions of adulterer I've seen online say that just your partner can be married and you are still one, we can still play it like that if you want. goatunit wrote: So my Soul is 4 and Devil is 4, correct?
Correct. goatunit wrote: Brutalities are specifically things that the Captain has done to him? If so...
No, these are what the character has suffered in the past. After you've chosen, you indicate which ones the captian did to you with an X. X's are good for when you get into a fight. The allow for extra dice, hurting opponents, countering other players hurting you, or killing an NPC outright goatunit wrote: What do Accursing and Damnation mean here? I may choose those as well.
Accursing: The player’s pirate is cursed by one with the talent or authority to make binding curses.(Witches, dying men, God, the Devil, etc) If even one player is accursed it brings some trouble for the whole ship. When hunting prizes the GM can treat the prize as one bigger for the purposes of buying protection, and the GM also get 2 X's for fights with NPC's(the only time the GM gets X's I think) Damnation: The player's pirate has been damned to hell by one with the talent or authority to do so.[My own interpretation since the book is sparse on what damnation is] If the Captain has suffered damnation, debauchery is in play[which it isn't at the start], and any players pirate has just killed someone, The GM can bring Hell into play. Which means the crew will now frenzy. I would also say you would automatically fail your Judgement roll if your pirate dies, but that really doesn't have much effect on the rest of the game. goatunit wrote: I could also use a little more info on ambitions.
All of these are goals the character wants to fulfill. Which may or may not happen during play based on other players actions. Is there a specific ambition that is giving you trouble?

 Re: Poison'd PBP(Mature)
So, how messed up/twisted can we go with character generation and history? Let's say I wanted to play a nasty/pirate version of Jack the Ripper? -- TAZ

 Re: Poison'd PBP(Mature)
I'm fine with it. These characters can be as nasty, twisted , and disturbing as you want. I would keep the descriptions of the actions as pg13 as possible as to not get us cos'd. I haven't played in any play by post here so I'm unfamiliar with how lenient the mods are with this section of the forums.

 Re: Poison'd PBP(Mature)
If you add the appropriate warnings in the title, you can take it pretty far. Gratitous violence and harsh language are part of the setting. [Although, there are some pirate insult generators out there that are a hoot.] Of course, with any new game, the GM and players need to set up the lines and veils.
Lines: Do not cross, a list of subjects that will not be in the game. Veils: They can happen in the game, but they are done 'off camera'.
It just happens that Poison'd can paint a really ugly picture really fast, which to some is a realistic portrait of a pirate's life. But, since this is a game and not an academic exercise, I think that some level of fun (even if it is back stabbing Shit Sandwich fun) should be a goal. -- TAZ

 Re: Poison'd PBP(Mature)
I like you character zircher, gives me the willies. Would you post the stuff you want the other players to know please. Oh and as for that part of the backstory, is his quota for the year met yet?
