 Re: Teach me Savage Worlds
[Yeah, the morning after seems to be a good jumping off point. Also for some rolls, mostly reflexives like perception, I think I'll roll them for you and just preface the post with the results just so that we can skip the delay of Post: Make a Notice roll, wait, Post: 7, wait, Post: Ok you see...]

 Re: Teach me Savage Worlds
[I don't mind that. Hope you don't mind I took a little liberty to speed things up a bit. I can always edit the post to change what happend if you want] Noah awakes at dawn, like he does everyday at this time, and drinks some water from his canteen. Something feels off this morning, but he can't put his finger on it. He looks over at the desk where the letter sits and he reaches into his pocket where he had placed the loonie. He fidgets with it while he thinks That lady never got a chance to mail that letter. Probably got taken away to quarantine before she could. This stirs up images in his mind he hadn't thought about for years. His parents dying, watching his sister, Grace, being taken away in a different bus, Tom and Dana being killed by that gang. The man he killed with Tom's gun. He goes to the desk and rereads the letter
"That's just not right" he comments aloud and then carefully folds the letters an places it back in the envelop and puts the whole package in his pocket. He goes to the kitchen pantry and sees if he can find any food that hasn't been scavenged.
[Okay so from what I've understood from the rules is that a roll is the best between an my trait die and d6 wild die. So since my survival is d6 I rolled 5 and 2 and since that roll beats 4 that would mean success correct? Moving on with the narrative]
Noah finds a large can of beans that had rolled under a shelf. Using his can opener and spoon[Added a set of utensils to my gear] he has it for breakfast. After he finishes it he pulls the letter out of his pocket and reads the address on the envelope. "Well, Millie Glassner, I know that I want to know what happened to Grace so your going to get this letter. Even if it's the last thing I do." Now I just got to figure out where the hell is Milk River, Alberta. I need a map. Noah searches the house for one [Notice 3,1] but there doesn't seem to be one. He gathers up his things heads off in search of the nearest library or gas station.

 Re: Teach me Savage Worlds
The day is hot and humid, stiflingly so. You step outside to figure out what to do next. As the sun bears down on your face, you take stock of your rations. The pickings are slim and you will need to restock soon. You've heard tell that a small group of survivors have taken up in the harbour to the south. They say that the harbour folk have been relatively successful at fishing but are under constant harrassment by the local gangs. Perhaps they'd be willing to share their resources in exchange for aide. [Common Knowledge roll. Smarts 8,7 a raise so you get fairly detailed knowledge]
Thinking back to his month's wandering about the city, Noah recalls that there is an old elementary school less than a mile north of the cul-de-sac he took refuge in last night he doesn't know what's in there, but it's a good bet there is at least one map [Smarts 5,3 a basic success].

 Re: Teach me Savage Worlds
[First I'm going to go to the school to check it out, after that I'll be off to the see the fishermen to see if they are dock fishers or if they use boats. If they use boats I'll try to see if any of them trade up the coast and maybe get a ride. Could save a few days travel if it pans out.
I'll also be trying to keep a look out for any sources of fresh or bottled water.]

 Re: Teach me Savage Worlds
The walk to the school is relatively uneventful as Noah walks the streets passing neighbourhood after neighbourhood of abandoned homes. A cool breeze picks up, helping to counteract the heat and humdity. After about a half hour of walking, Noah approaches the schoolgrounds.
The grounds of the school are unkept alternating between worn patches that are little better than mudholes and sections of overgrown, half dead grass. Noah takes a quick glance toward the playground. Most of the equipment is intact save for several swingset. Individual chains hang from the set's frame, rattling ominously in the breeze.
The school itself fails to conjure up the happy, innocent thoughts of childhood. The brick outer walls are covered in a mural of spray paint tags and the windows have been barred. The main doors are chained shut. Above them sits a faded sign. Noah makes out the faint remnants of a picture of a cartoon bumble bee bearing a broad, exaggerated smile as it flies above the words "J.P. Thomas Elementary School". It's doubtful that anyone has smiled around here in a long time.
[In the interestest of keeping mechanics open and clear, the chains are not secured although you do not know this (failed Notice roll of 1,3). At the table I obviously woudn't tell you that, but the point is to learn SW so I'm going to keep everything on the table when it comes to mechanics unless you don't want me to]

 Re: Teach me Savage Worlds
Noah carefully and quietly crosses the schoolyard[Stealth 1,3 -2= modified 1,1] trying to stick to grassy areas. When he gets close to the school he does a once around the outside looking for less obvious entry points and any indications that someone might living here(Traps, footprints, scratches where the bars[They are bars right or are the windows boarded up?] have been pried away from the windows, well worn paths)[Notice 4,5]
[Personal I'd say I didn't need to know about rolls behind the screen however, the other guys are trying to learn as well so maybe do spoiler tags if that's not too much trouble]
