Re: Spirit of the Century - IC
:OOC: I didn't realize we'd already met, or I wouldn't have said what I did... When/how do I roll?::/OOC:
"Forgive me, Conroy. I can't apologize enough! Of course I remember you. I've been a bit... distracted."
Blackstone gestures for a refill, and when it approaches, takes the bottle instead, with a dismissive glance and a nod. He pours himself another, drains it, and then fills his glass once more.

:OOC: No problem, You met Niles in Egypt in Burt's Book. As for rolling, if it is okay with the rest of you I will do that all on this side and just tell you the results/effect. In case of fate points I will OCC: you to give you the opportunity to re-roll or add two. I just will not be able to keep up with all of the metagame when I think we want to play the game. Is that okay as a mechanic for this guys? I am getting the feeling that we... in general are narrative gamers... Is that correct? Or do you want more crunch? /:OOC:

"Sehr gut, Herr Conroy." Karl seemed to have finished a sketch and put the notebook & pencil back in his pocket before sipping his coffee. "But this 'Club' you speak of.... I vas asked to participate in a club in Munich and have some reservations about taking apart in an organization that is cloaked. Forgive my concerns. I have more dann my vell being to think about."

Spirit of the Century - IC
:OOC: That sounds good to me. I like all styles of games but for a play by post I tend to lean toward narrative story telling.

Re: Spirit of the Century - IC
Volos exhales a ring of smoke. "Karl," he says with a light grin, "it's obviously the Club. Sort of a Boy Scouts for doing goodness and such." He turns his steely gaze at Conroy. "If you're going to talk to us about this, it might be best to drop the cloak and dagger bit. We're all adults and, I think you'll find, many of us have ran afoul of those who are good at being intelligence agents. You may find a modicum of trust among some of us unless you speak clearly."

Re: Spirit of the Century - IC
Looking at Volos. “You may be correct sir in ascertaining the nature of the "Club". However, for one to drop the 'Cloak and Dagger', one must ascertain to whom one is speaking too, and Trust is a two way street. I have given my name and noted my association, but you have told me nothing at all. Additionally, I would not be very good at what I used to do if I spoke of secrets in a place as. accessible as this."
Turning to Stein “Herr Stein, at this point I do not know if 'The Club' is offering membership to you in particular, at this time. But, I was not necessarily wanting to speak business with you right now. If you are comfortable we can. But I do have an interest in Burt's other friends as well.
I know Captain Blackstone and yourself of course from our previous encounters, but as to this um... Scottish? Gentleman and this, how can I put it... more elusive nationality of the this “plain speaking man” here.” Indicating Volos with his glass. "No offense. There is something going on here that I just quite not put my finger upon, with you chaps.”
He reaches out again for the bottle, and pours the rest into Volos glass. Calls out again to the boy apparently named Aytekin to bring another bottle of Raki and the rest of the scotch. Aytekin's tan face and off white cap appear dutifully with the bottles with only a slight sense of disapproval, in his manner, as he disappears again.
Conroy starts again "Aytekin's family runs The Golden Horn Hotel, here. They have been very good to me in the past but, as they are Muslim they do not approve of alcohol, but with a hotel that serves westerners it is hard to hold that against them, and they make a good profit from it. Now Burt, are you going to put down your tea, and introduce the rest of your friends here or am I going to have to go on an inquisition myself? Blackstone, Stein perhaps you can tell me at least who your other brotherhood members are?"

Re: Spirit of the Century - IC
"Mein Herr Conroy. Entschuldigung, bitte. It seems the past experiences have jaded the soul instead of softening it. Ja?" Karl looks at both Campbell & Volos as to bring memories to the for of the mind.
"Herr Campbell and Herr Volos have proven better friends dann Liebe Freunde von meiner Vergangenheit*. Vaan past friends used my Familie to coerce me to help them in their evil, diese guten herren, very good gentlemen aided me venn I needed help. Ohne diese männer...without them the price for conscience vould be greater dann I could bear. Tsey are gut men. Vorthy of respect. As all the men at diese table." With that he calmly pours scotch into a glass and raises it to the table. "Salut, meinen herren."
*Dear friends from my past

Re: Spirit of the Century - IC
Conroy raises his glass as well in the toast. “Well now that must be a story that I do not know about, lest what I read in the papers. So tell me more, what did happen?” [OOC] As this is a missing piece of the background of the three of you, this would be an excellent time for you to discuss some more of the details of Karl Stein & the Rise of the Beer Hall Menace and finish off your character builds. In fact if the story is a bit confused will add to the authenticity of what I suspect the actual event was to be. [/OOC]

OOC: Working a bunch of OT this week in addition to school. I'll keep giving you the thumbs up to let you know I'm still on board, but I might just be hanging out in the background for a few days.
