Sounds good Ikoma, gives me some ideas of the world.

BTW, I am completely open to tweaking a lot of it to fit with other players. I tried to give him several openings (school, internship) to mesh with other players. So if someone else would prefer to play a PR rep, I can adjust to match.

I specifically left the Mage/Hunter/Mortal question blank. I wanted to work that out when I know more about the story and what we need.

Well, the thing with nWoD is that not everyone needs to play as the same template; you can have a party of Mages, Mortals and Hunters working together (though the political implications of such a thing are usually difficult at best), and it's my job to make the game fun for everyone whether they want to be a combat powerhouse, a socialite or a techie person who just so happens to be able to throw out a fireball every now and then.

If you've got a character concept in mind, just try and figure out which of the 3 templates work best for him and run with it.

The story I have in mind is that everyone is pretty much oblivious to the supernatural community, and while they may have suspicions about some of it (the statistical equivalent to a point in Occult knowledge) they don't know the truth, and after being exposed to it to try and stake out their own path or identity in the supernatural community before someone (or something) can take that opportunity away from them

If you made a Mage then the character pretty much just Awoke to their powers recently, with the Rotes you start off with from character creation being spells you instinctively can know/call upon. I'll leave the whole Awakening description up to the player, as it is meant to be a highly personal (and almost character-defining) event for the person.

The most difficult thing to do for character creation will be for a Hunter, as by definition you already know about the supernatural. If you want to play a Hunter, I envision the character having had a recent up-close and personal encounter with something supernatural; I'll leave that supernatural being/event to the player to describe in character creation.

Rough character idea right now but a college student from a wealthy family. English major to annoy his business minded dad, not so hot with computers so Andy could have been his tutor for a computer class or two. If you wanted to take it deeper, maybe it is his dad's company that Andy has his internship at?

Probably just a mortal but a freshly Awakened mage could be interesting.

Not bad, what sort of business does your character's dad run, or do you want to leave that to me? Most multi-million dollar corporations usually will pay top dollar for a good IT department.

I'll leave that one up to you. Fleshing out details should have something more solid up tonight.

So I've gotten some good information from Ikoma, Mizwrath and justinbot. If anyone else wants to join please submit something soon, otherwise I'm going to make a new thread and we'll begin the game, with this thread becoming an OOC thread. Please try to give me something by this upcoming Wednesday, with the game beginning shortly there-after.

Clawing his way through the briar patch, Duncan slips and tumbles down the muddy slope landing heavily on the ground below. Rising to his knees he stares up at the looming tree, it’s up-stretched branches embracing the impossibly large stone tablet, has haunted his dreams for God knows how long. He blinks and he’s at it’s trunk. Swallowing hard, he gingerly reaches out to touch it’s rough wooden surface. The world explodes into a screeching blur as the car strikes Duncan from the side sending him and his bicycle in different directions. Blackness.

The tree looms above as it always has. Duncan’s fingers touch the wooden bark, splinters draw blood as it shatters inward. Stars, planets and a blazing sun greet his eyes as he steps through the hole. The sun suddenly flares and the galaxy is replaced with a ring of stones carved to resemble elderly men. They surround him on a grassy knoll, as indistinct beings and shapes flit between the branches of ancient forest circling the hill. On the brink of madness, Duncan falls to his knees shouting incoherent words, demands and curses at the stones. His name is murmured on the breeze and Duncan, through tears, notices this name carved on each stone. He turns as his name is called louder now. He stands and follows the sound back to the material realm.

Duncan had dreamt of the tower for several months before the accident that sparked his Awakening. He was in bad shape for a month, but it could have been much worse the doctors had said and they marveled at his rapid recovery. After the lawyers came with the settlement, it was clear that Duncan’s life as a bike courier was over. No longer did he have to scrape together rent; he had enough to live comfortably for a long time.

That was about a month ago and since then, Duncan has noticed odd changes in his life and the world around him. For one, the Tree still haunts his dreams, but now it’s far off, on the fringes, as if it’s waiting for something and try as he might, he can never reach it. This feeling has carried over into his waking life as well.
Second, he suspects he may be going mad. Out of the corner of his eyes he can see the same elusive shapes and figures he sees in his dreams darting back and forth, following him, calling to him.
A week ago, his intuition told him to apply for a job he had no experience with at some high-tech company. He was a little surprised when he got the job, but Duncan’s gut feeling tells him this odd choice is one step in the right direction to finding whatever it is he’s searching for.

_____

Duncan S. Harwal, adventurer, lay-about, eco-nut and until recently; bike courier, is amazingly almost 40 years old. Amazingly because he looks 20 years younger or so they say, good genes is what he would shrug in response.
He’s blonde, well muscled, fit and until his accident he walked around as though he didn’t have a care in the world. Now he’s retreated inside himself and has become broody, scruffy, and disheveled.

Ok, anything from here-on out will be used for OOC conversations, questions, and the like. the IC thread will be up shortly, so feel free to begin posting in it. The first post will be me describing the scene you all are located, with various reasons as to why you might be there. Just give me something as to what you guys are doing, and then I'll continue from there.
