 Affordable Minis?
As in cheap, and bountiful with a wide variety of styles...
Anyone know where I can get some? I know sites have been mentioned on the board before, but I can't remember...

I'll leave it to others to point you towards sources of character minis, Mikey. For a range of monsters, though, I'll give you the same advice I always give. Look for kids toyshops, tourist gift shops, and any second-hand or charity/junk shops. I have amassed a huge collection of plastic toy creatures: giant insects of many varieties, frogs, snakes, lizards, dinosaurs, gargolyes/demons, even some packs of assorted sea-life and mythical creatures including dragons. I even have a pretty realistic purple worm. All really good quality, already painted, nigh indestructible, and cheap as chips!

I'm a big fan of paper minis. There are a ton of free ones available. There are also higher quality ones for sale on rpgnow and the like. Very cheap option. And you can print as many as you want/need.

Reaper is pretty good and pretty cheap. You can also just raid the used mini cases at every store you can find, discontinued lines are also great. I have a ton of stuff I got for a buck a blister pack. The bonus is a couple years later when people start picking those games back up you can sell the minis again at more than retail was.

I've been using LEGO minifigs. I've got knights, dwarves, ninjas, pirates, lizard men, mummies, and loads of NPCs that are all customizable. Apart from the typical sets, you can get randomized individual minifigs for around $3 at Walmart, Target, or Toys R Us. If you know what to feel for though you can find what you want.

A buddy of mine bought a mess of mageknight figures as they are no longer produced and used those for a lot of his minis

 Affordable Minis?
I'd check the scrap yards, look for the old ones. The new Beemers are a lot more expensive.

 Re: Affordable Minis?
I'm looking into using a token system with printed minis glued/mod-podged to them. For the PCs, though, I'd prefer something nicer.
Anyone know of 1" urban modern minis that don't have guns?

Opened dnd minis, the prepainted ones. A lot of them are bloody dirt cheap. You can get a nice bundle of common goons, orcs, and goblins for about a nickel to a quarter a piece.
Troll and Toad.com have some decent prices. The more recent minis are usually the cheapest way to go. Otherwise tokens, Piazo and WotC both have really nice token packages.
