If you like games with lots of custom dice where the rules and strategy change with each game, you'll love the huge replayability value of Quarriors. The 'board', known as the Wilds, is made of cards and the various cards each have different rules for the monster or spell that they represent. So, each game has a wide variety of critters that you can recruit and summon for battle. -- TAZ
[reorganized for clarity] I had a single layer tackle box that I had been using to store all of my community dice. I swapped it for my Quarriors dice and stuck the community dice in the Quarriors tin. I still want to check out Quarmageddon, but it's organization feature isn't as big of a draw for me.

Being without a tackle box, the expansion goes a long way towards tidying things up for us. Also got the corruption expansion, but haven't tried it out yet. -- TAZ

I picked up the Android: Netrunner LCG from Fantasy Flight this weekend. It's the first asymmetrical deck building game I've played but it's the bee's knees.

Played this a few times last night. It felt like it was massively unfair to the Corp player till we discovered a few rules we'd forgotten, like always drawing a card at the start of your turn and what all you can do with Tags.

If you think it's your gig Magic: The Gathering is a pretty fun game that is designed at it's core, for two person play thought there are rules sets for more. You can also work with your friend/SO to help build and customize each others decks, and "brewing" is half the fun of the game which can pour over into otherwise unoccupied conversation space like long car rides ect. It's a great game in that it has multiple tiers of play from casual or "tabletop" magic to the Pro Tour where people play for tens of thousands of dollars, each with it's own ins and outs and styles of play, and not one is inherently more or less entertaining or exiting than any other. HOWEVER, it is very tempting (and for some levels of play necessary) to invest quite a bit of pocket change (sometimes a lot more) so just be careful if your the kind of person who likes to go all out. I have a couple 75 card decks (60, +15 Sideboard) that are worth over a thousand dollars, and it's not inconceivable to have a deck that is worth far more than even that. http://www.cardkingdom.com/catalog/view?search=basic&filter%5Bname%5D=black+lotus

For a person looking for a game and not a subscription, FFG's series of Living Card Games are a very attractive option.

Re: Board Games that don't suck for 2 players
I enjoy Elder Sign by FFG and will play it with my husband on occasion. The board game Drako is a two player only board game that I bought for guests to play at my wedding. It's a lot of fun and one player controls dragon slaying dwarves and the other plays the dragon.
The dragon player either has to kill all of the dwarves or outlast them because when the dwarf player runs out of cards the dragon wins. The game pieces are good quality, the art is nice, and the miniatures that come with it look pretty cool and look like a lot of fun to paint as well. The price tag was also nice.

I played Mice & Mystics this weekend. Technically it's for 2 - 4 players but if you have less than four either one or both players play two mice. It was a lot of fun with some lite TTRPG style mechanics. It was also a bit tricky and required some coordination with the other players. We were killed on a side mission in Chapter 1.

It has been a while since I read this thread so I don't remember if it has been mentioned but Lords of Waterdeep isn't bad for 2. My wife and I have played it a few times together and enjoyed it quite well.
