What if there was a BattleTech reboot?
Was listening to Randall Bills on episode 92 of the d6 Generation and it got me thinking, what if FASA had hung around long enough to completely toss the BTech rules in the air? -- TAZ http://www.pulpgamer.com/thed6generation/135423/d6g-ep-92-growing-your-game-super-dungeon-explore-review/

I'm a maybe. It really all depends on whether the game is miniatures or RPG focused.

I also want to do this poll because I remember when I created and ran BattleTech-Z, a streamlined version of BTech, for my son and his friends a few winters ago. Lots of fun was had and this was with kids that had never wargamed before. -- TAZ Photo of BTZ (Yes, that map actually says Battledroids in the corner.)

No clans, no clickys, unseen mechs, and more focus on combined arms. Arty, Aerospace, and Armor.

Chainsaw.
I've only played Battletech once, so I have yet to see 1/1000 of what already exists.

Actually, I might have played it back in the din Before Times. I have a vague memory of playing a game where I had to mark off damage to heat sinks, so unless there's another game that requires it, I have played twice, but only once really counts.

I'd be more inclined to try a heavy mech system that only had one sourcebook. Battletech is far too big for new players to grok.

I've never played Battletech, nor really looked at it. A redesign and relaunch would certainly get me to look at it, at least.

I dunno, I think the current setup is pretty good...you just need Total Warfare and one set of record sheets to play the full game. Anything beyond that is optional.
