Re: What boardgames are you playing?
Game night at church, and it's St. Patrick's Day, so it was necessary to make a giant Ireland map for a snakes and ladders game. When you land on a snake you can roll for damage and when its hit points are up it comes off the map... helping the good saint kick all the snakes out of Ireland. the hit points are based on the snake's length.
Also bringing the whole crate, including Fluxx, Catan, Guillotine, several Munchkins, and a co-operative game called Harvest. and I'll also be running the WPMAS slightly-steampunk rpg. A full night.

The Snakes in Ireland game was a hit. Some rule adjustments: You just assign the snakes different sizes of dice, and when you land on its head you roll the die and if you get more than half the value of the die, the snake dies. Also, in future, we'll all start at random spots on the coast and go in any way we want (straight lines until you hit a coast. Or a snake).

Friend's birthday party this past weekend. Got in two games of Arkham Horror, one round of Dominion and one of Battlestar Galactica in the course of two days.

Played Discworld: Ankh Morpork last Sunday at ConnCon. Played through the game once, then we took a ten minute break, during which time I ran to the dealer's room and bought the game, back in time for the second game.
I've been a huge Discworld fan for years now, so I felt kind of silly when I found out that there was a board game out there that I'd never heard of.

Got to play Shadowhunters this weekend and another game of BSG.
BSG is cool, but it's got so much stuff to keep track of that it gets annoying sometimes.

Agricola has reemerged as a group favorite. I've been playing a lot of two player games with people since my entire group hasn't had any common time available, which has sparked interest in the new exclusively two player version that's coming out. I'm very happy with how Agricola scales as is, but I also love the game would love to see what Rosenburg does to change the gameplay.

It seemed overly complicated to me.

Re: What boardgames are you playing?
Going to be playtesting Three Card Coyote tonight (assuming that the freight train of inbound storms don't knock the power out to OKC.) Three Card Coyote is my current entry for the 2012 Game Chef contest. It's a little bit of a board game, scavenger hunt, and story telling RPG that uses three card stud as the action resolution system and poker chips to perform magic. Oh yeah, the dealer is Coyote the Trickster god and all the other players are power hungry gods inhabiting human bodies on Halloween night in 1864 Helena Montana. Got those game designer butterflies. I hope they like it. -- TAZ
